Hey, the thread is back up... Good job guys.. having two pits, is not always a problem. as long as the two pits grew up together and, are around the same age and you have corected any dominance behaviour since pup, i guess u shud be fine..

the problem arises when u want to introduce a new pit into ur pack.. on the contrary, if u're bringin home a new female pit and u already have a male pit. chances are, they may just get along fine with each other.

cheers..

szechao: thanks buddy. but as u claimed if ur girl is only 6 months and already weighing 23 kg, it's really phenomenal. that's a very good weight for 6 month old female pup. have u spayed her already? are u goin to? she looks really good. how's the character? temperament? alertness? females matures a lil faster than males. u can soon see her real character.

sara: luva is looking like a beast. damn nice.. but as u said, the ear cropping job u got is not one of the best. but hey, it may look like a monster as his head start to fill out..

wenchiang: thanks buddy.. as i told u, skin all completely recovered. they're all looking really good. for some undisclosed reason, i'm spaying champa today. not planning to breed her anymore. she has now started working guarding the compound already. she's a biter. juno is looking like a pretty fun pup. but she looks a lil lean. how's her apetite? but nothin to worry, she looks pretty normal she'll probably start filling out as she matures.

for sara and wenchiang: do monitor ur dog's aggression. having both parents being moderately aggressive. i'm starting to wonder, how the pup is gonna turn out. if u dun want ur dog to be aggressive, do not ever encourage it. start correcting it from now.

this one is mine female dog ,the previous one is her daugther...
mine is 23 kg

nice female. 23 kg is a good weight for a female. for a pit, female above 21 kg is good breedable size IMO.
the daughter looks pretty good too.. she looks like she has good genes in her. if u have plans for her, let me know. i have romeo in mind. wink.gif

hey wenchiang, juno looks much much better in these latest pics. shoulder blades and chest looks much more developed.. how's kotzen doin btw?

Ok, here's what ya'll need to know. sadly, it maybe maige. this is one of the reason y i spayed champa. maige is an immunologically handicaped situation, whereby the immune system of the dog is incapable of keeping the mites number in check. NOTE: every dog has mites. it's the duty of the immune system to keep the mite count in check. when the immune system fails, mite explosion happens(the number of mite just explodes and the dog will have mainge).

it's not a good idea to shower ur dog very often, i only do once a month. in indoor cases, try to keep it once a fort night. showering removes the protective oil layer in ur dog's skin.

let me put this straight to ya'll most vets know how to diagnose mainge but not treat them.

symptom of mite explosion and mainge:

1) a day after shower, if u see bumps on ur dog's skin. it's an indication. this is what has happens: u washed away the protective oil on the skin, number of mites exploded, and the immune system of the dog is counter-reacting to the mites. meaning the immune system is fighting the sudden increase of mites. this is good. the bumps will go away within few days.

2)some dog don't show the bumps. need not worry, untill u see reddish rashes. starting of on hind thighs of behind neck. now, chances are, mainge condition.

precaution:

1) if u suspect ur dog has mainge, never let the vet vaccinate ur dog, suppressing futher the immune system will only worssen the condition and the mainge spreading to a stage that cannot be helped.

2) not to worry, mainge is not contagious, ur other dogs won't get it from ur infected dog. breeding a dog which has mainge condition can pass on it's handicapped disease to it's pups.

treatment & remedy:

these two treatments are from personnal research and effort i put in to find the best remedy to treat my dog. both i have tried, used and have been successful with.

1) borax+hydrogen peroxide(application)
2) ivermectin(injection)

method 1:
prepare hydrogen peroxide solution of 1% concerntrtation as required i.e. 2 litre. mix borax into it until the solution gets saturated. shower ur dog first. wipe it dry and then apply the prepared solution. soak ur dog in it and let it drip. do not wipe ur dog. leave it to dry on it's own. treat twice a week for one week. minor mainge should start healing already. a more severe condition may require a more frequent and prolonged treatment.

preparation: to prepapre hydrogen peroxide to 1% conc.
if u have hydrogen peroxide 6%, mix 1 part of that hydrogen peroxide with 6 parts of water. similarly if u have 50 % conc solution, mix 1 one part of the 50% hydrogen peroxide with 50 parts of water to get 1% solution.
borax is in the form of salt. so, just mix some into the prepared solution and stir. if it all disolves, mix somemore and stir. mix and stir until it cant's dissolve anymore, then the solution is saturated. use slighty warm water to ease the dossolving part. now u're ready to treat ur dog with above mentioned method.

method 2:
u can get ivermectin from any goverment vetrinary supply with brand name ivomec or ivochip. the dosage is 0.1 ml for every 10 lbs(pounds) of ur dog. use a 3 ml syringe and a 25 G (1") needle. pull out as much as needed. i.e. if ur dog is 20 lbs, u'd need 0.2 ml. if ur dog is 25lbs, u'd need roungly 0.25 ml. U need to inject it sub-qutaneously(sub-q). orally won't work. to make it easy, pull the skin of ur dog above the neck and inject it under the skin. u'll need to repeat this treatment three times, 7 days apart.

fo severe condition, both these methods can be combined for faster recovery.

this is not a treatment to cure mainge. unfortunately mainge cannot be cured. it can be kept under control. it may start to show every 5 months or so. and one application of the hydrogen peroxide and borax solution will send it right back in.

i've told sara this so many times, i dun't know what's stopping this from getting into his knuckle head.

ivermectin orally is for preventive measure for heartworm. it won't help mainge. if u need the remedy pls let me know.

NOTE: IVECMECTIN CANNOT BE USED IN COLLIE BREED. THIS CAN BE FATAL.

I will definately breed more in the future... this guy here(romeo) is my next potential father.. just need to find a proper b****. for now, i really can't tell when i will breed.. but there'll definately be update in here. temperament testing the b**** first and making sure the b**** is free from mainge and terminal illness will be my priority.

note. she's not fat.. she's hell of muscular for a female rott. but she's playful as a baby. that's what i hate about her.. laugh.gif

@wenchiang

Juno is looking good. she has some thick ears. does it always stand like that. she's looking a lil slender. she may fill out as she matures. have u already spayed her?

@mikehwy

ur pits are looking great for their age. the're both males. so becareful, as wenchiang said. they may get along well now. if they're left to roam freely together or being put in the same cage, there may arise a reason to challenge. this is not good at all. truet me. u won't see it coming until it happens. better be safe than sorry. if u dun tie the dog, u really dun need a chain on it's neck. if the're controllable during walks, that u dun need a chike chain to hold them back(i see u have modified the chokes to serve as a plain neck chain), then a good collar belt wud do.
if u want to put some weight on the neck for any sort of muscle developement, it's not advised to use such thing until the dog is 1.5 years old.
i use a stainless steel chain link(8mm) from hardware joint with a shackle(stainless steel). see avatar pic.

Reviving this bltch outta it's doom!!!!

Mike. great pics. Ur fellas are lokking great. do keep and eye on dominence challange. when that happens, do step in and let them know that u're the dominent one and any dominence behavior from them is not allowed. if u keep that in check from young u may keep them in peace for the rest of their life. and do pay close attention to what triggers the dominence behavior or what activity. for example. feedig them together may trigger dominence behaviour coz the alpha male usually eats first and that the rest of the pack eats.
tossing a toy between them may trigger dominence coz the more dominant one will try to claim the toy. if u can pick up all the small signs ur dogs are giving now and able to correct it from now, u have a great life ahead with ur dogs. because once they're more mature, their dominant action witll be much more severe.. keep a good eye. and keep reading.
if possible, watch dog whisperer show. the episode u watch the better and more sensitive u'll become to dog's body language and energy. always practise dominence is not allowed at all from ur dogs.

i wish i cud ask them to post some pics.. but, most are internet illiterate dog lovers.. LOL.. i'll see if i can go over and see if i can snap some pics..

usually i just make a friendly call to see how their doin. in ur case i dun have to call coz i've been getting good updates here..

my pack are doin really good. i've brought Romeo to my genting house. and bring down to the factory sometimes when i come to work..

others stay in the factory to guard at night. i've changed all my fencing to the KTM Komuter type fencing to keep the dogs in. LOL.

it was a major concern. my dogs keep biting the fence and getting out to hunt other dogs.. the were caged for a while till the fence project was over. now they roam and guard proudly.. hehehe
