I get what you mean. You like basic and simple girls.
I'm from another world. Whenever I attend events, I must look good. It usually takes 3-5 days for me to prepare my skin, try on clothes, style from hair-to-toe, and look great on the event day.
My male companions are usually tall (>180 cm+), good-looking and successful, and I complement them by dressing up beautifully to make them proud. We look good taking photos together, and get awarded as "Best Dressed".
Yeah, it's a social status thingy, for the fame and limelight. Quite fun actually. I get to dress up and enjoy being beautiful with all the compliments. Vanity fair. Lol
I get where you're coming from, but this forum is not the right place to ask la. Like going to your girlfriends and asking them which PC component to buy cause you want to overclock. For tattoos, got a simple rule la. If you have to ask; don't. You need to know why you're getting the tattoo, which then translates to the confidence in pulling it off.
As for all your fashion questions, unless you're indirectly fishing for someone here, there's no general preference that will match most men. Everyone has a different preference, the best you could do is different sub-culture's general preferences. As shown in the replies here, most men here prefer simpler looks. I myself fall into the category, but I can appreciate and do really appreciate when my partner dresses for the occassion.
My advice would be, just experiment with looks/styles you're not used to. Since you've been out of a long term relationship. Now's a good time to explore, then see what results you get and how it makes you feel. You'll find your new unique style that will ensnare an equally unique man. Go generic and all you will get are generic people
