Getting Started

I have recently bought a subsale which is still under SPA process.
The house is 17 years old I believed and there was a solar heater installed on the roof. I know there will be some re-piping done when installing solar heater.
The question is, is that easy if I wanna revert back using instant heater?
Do i need to redo all the piping system?

Its a bit old, hope it still helps.
My experience after using having it for 25 years on multiple properties is not worth to fix and even recommend to remove it.
My reason being these tech are just outdate and typically cheaply designed by OEM.
Instead of instant heater, I strongly recommend tank heater if you have the budget. You get to enjoy the hotel style shower everyday.

Off the water supply to the heater. Switch off power supply also.
Then you are left with the cold water tap supply

Stop the water from entering the solar heater, either stop cock or some other method. Drain water from the solar, and ensure there is no more electricity supply to the solar. You may leave as is, or remove.
install instant water heater to the cold water taps that you need.

I do not recommend exposing hot water pipe. 5 years ago I did mine 2.5k each bathroom, including tiles, copper pipe, mixer tap, hacking and recover and tank installation. If you are moving in a new place, then its a good opportunity.

You bought the house with ready hot and cold water pipings for your solar water heaters (can be used also for storage water heaters), which is a luxury compared to only cold water piping (which you can only use with instant water heaters). Hence why not just use the hot and cold water pipings rather than letting it go to waste? If u don't want to use the solar water heaters, maybe convert to using storage water heaters instead? A 90L storage water heater would do, such as this CENTON Neptune (Shopee link - https://s.shopee.com.my/9zhBPf4sNC). Do you have a bathtub in your house? If yes, then no brainer, just continue using either your existing solar water heater or change to a storage water heater. Instant water heater will not be able to support bathtub usage (not hot enough).
