Hi K, want to ask if there's a scam out there where the seller delivers the item, and then you have to pay the full amount directly to the delivery team?

I wan to purchase something, from facebook, the seller offer this method, cod and make payment on delivery? Something new for me, seems fishy n sounds like scam, so better not to proceed?

thats the scammer from China, they got your info and deliver a rubbish to you via COD. pay on delivery

could be deliveryman silap rumah too.
always confirm the recipient name first for unexpected delivery, reject if they cannot give or simply give unknown name wan. if the name is known, contact that recipient for confirmation.

Yes, and it's usually someone in the house who paid for it because they thought you had ordered something as usual. That is why you should always inform your household if you're expecting something to be delivered.

a very old scam... my dad almost kena... luckily he remembered that we usually paid everything...

There is a lot in FB that selling item below market price. For example, a Shimano fishing reel where is standard market price is RM500+ is selling at 200+. Scammer in order to persuade buyer is giving COD option. But this COD option itself is a trap because the seller is using 3rd party courier.

From this, U actually no able to open the package to check because the moment U open it, it consider sold even the item is not the genuine product.

U either ask courier can check the item before paying or not only (which 3rd party courier doesn't let U to open it without paying first)

If U see item below market price on FB. U can troll back the seller by order it then cancel the order afterward. Let them bare back the deliver cost

Early this year got scammer masquerading as branded labels (like Dior) and entice netizens into playing their game with high chance of winning (eg. 95% discount). the actual product cost tens of thousands. Some might kena duped after paying that 5% sum to courier before being given a fake product.

If not, then it's a scam.......n yes, such scam do exist

If u not at home, always inform family/fren to call to confirm delivery details before paying lor

Cod scamming

This COD payment method really sohai, waste of time and effort even the packaging cost also, high risk of return and stock damage. KNNCB betul

I am online seller. My product listing had been impersonate by scammer to scam cheapskate buyer.

How this happen is that they duplicate my product photo, create fake reviews (on facebook, fake posting can be bought easily, one /k/ is in this business where they rent people facebook account to generate fake post). And offer half the original price.

When cheapskate hunt for the chapest price and come across their listing and convience by hundreds of "happy buyer" post and so they proceed to place order by COD method.

Item arrive wrapped in black color wrapping, they can't see the content. Once they pay to the courier, there is no turning back. The item they receive is not what being published online but some random cheap stuff.

I received numerous phone call complain because my number is on the product listing.

This COD is an opportunity for scammer. The receiver is unlikely to open and check parcel content on the spot

COD is not a scam but there has been cases where they've obtained your info and deliver stuff to you that you didn't buy and make you pay

This delivery + COD method is more like scam, they might simply give you something cheap and you cannot reject the item, but you have to pay the delivery guy in full. And you cannot take action against the shop, but if you are purchasing online and you did not receive your goods as per the shop then you can report and withhold your payment to the shop.

COD stands for cash on DELIVERY which means u pay upon delivsry of item to ur place.

Malaysian bastardized this term where u pay when u collect the item from seller. Thats not COD. thats COC, cash on collection

This seller i found him from his facebook post, he said going to send using ninjavan, from another state to me, so i wonder is this a scam or genuine deal?

Nope. This is more like an assurance from the seller that ure getting the item. Coz some scammer take money but didnt send any item at all.

This scam only happen on Facebook.
Basically this scanner created a Facebook page, bought the fake post and spend on Facebook Ads. When you click on the Ads, it redirect you to their website.

Ppl like this lar, keep giving demand to scammer.

anyways i always cod if i buy something from facebook marketplace, meet the seller, inspect the item, some seller even let me use the item for few days before pay. if all ok then pay cash or online transfer witnessed by both of us on the spot

the key here is "meet the seller"

Not sure. I don't think there is any courier that can let U to open and check first.

Because if the package/seal has been opened. It could cause dispute and the sender could claim the courier make changes to the item inside.

So bottom line is don't order from FB la. Coz don't have 3rd party arbitration like lazada / shoppee

The seller don't have any other platform apart from FB?

avoid dealing with random fb seller/page unless can meet face2face (for marketplace)
