Agreed as I share your sentiments and perhaps part of your statistics. Dozz's case could be a unique one so I'll take it with a pinch of salt.

You can still use your plat. Just reverse the card when you take it out ... it looks like a regular classic card from the back. These days platinum cards are so common, no big deal actually. If you want to hit on a "high-end" chick then you definately need to pull out that plat card! Otherwise she won't even bother taking a glance at you.

Yes .. you can use your preexisting cc as reference. Need to attach your copy of your IC and send in the completed application form as well, copy of cc alone won't be accepted.

You guys actually got it wrong with SCB's scheduled billing system. I wouldn't call it your usual auto debit system as the control is in your hands vs the service provider or bank's hands. You can set and adjust the amount to pay and schedule it accordingly. Best part is that the system allows you to charge it to your credit card thus you can charge it to your JustOne and pay it on a Friday. (Instead of waiting for Friday to come)

It's like a manual payment system but yet it has all the auto features installed as options. You don't have the problems to cancel coz you just login to SCB online banking and cancel the auto payment. (The cancellation take effect right away .... no need to call CS or wait for a few days)
I don't work for SCB but I like their online system ... it is not perfect but the scheduler is a great feature to use. (I don't think the likes of Citi, HSBC, MBB has this scheduler capability) Whoever holds a SCB card then do try out their online banking system and try the bill payment feature then post your comments.

Yup ... end of the day it is just a piece of plastic. Money doesn't even belong to you coz it is just an assigned debt level that the bank is comfortable to provide to you.

Sounds like MBB renegaded on the bonus TP.

Not really ... it's part due to the merchant efficiency level as well. Likely the merchant which you bought your stuff posted the transaction at the end of closing day / same day. AMEX picked it up and immediately posted it in your account the next day.

Interesting but I would not spend RM2K on this experiment. RM2K can be used for a whole lot of other things and besides while it is interesting to own the Plat charge card but (IMHO) the priviledges are mainly for golf and fine dining which on a normal day I wouldn't be doing it as well.
