Last year I went to a workshop in Pudu with a T*YO signboard. I brought my own oil filter and engine oil, but the guy charged me RM80 for labor and tried to upsell me brake pads, an aircon filter, and other stuff (total would be RM1k++)

Does anyone know a workshop in KL, preferably in Pudu or Setapak, that charges a reasonable labor fee for an oil change? Or even a decent workshop with reasonable prices for all services and maintenance? My Toyota warranty ends soon, so I need to find a new place. I remember paying RM30 for an oil change at another workshop in Pudu, but they stopped offering that oil change cry.gif

Because RM30 occupying half an hour is not enough to cover their daily operation cost I guess.

setapak many still around rm30 la..best to ask price first and tell them you brought everything. after hear price baru do.

just oil change then its easy, and no need think much. if need repair or do wear and tear baru do research.

oil change i usually switch from places to places coz not one single place i like it very much. so i keep change and see which more convenient and feel more syok nia.

i go a few places like
https://g.co/kgs/KcPcBmw
https://g.co/kgs/g9TE4AD
around setapak.

just make sure you don't go for things they recommended additionally. listen to it, and say thing about it. then do your own research.

Syarikat Taman Melawati Tyre & Battery Service never upsell me anything but you got a feel that they just do what you tell them to do. sometimes they even reject. like there is a couple of time i ask them to rotate and do tyre alignment. they say no need biggrin.gif so depends what you want.

FYI, most SC and proper shop already RM80~100/hour for workmanship.
if you want to change oil i believe most dont want to take RM30 already in big city, except you go to those kampung or urban area.

i just changed maybe feb this year. still rm30 that time but what's weird is i change atf also and they charge rm40 for that. usually same price with engine oil.
i notice one neighbour in condo like that change himself. coz frequently see a bottle of engine oil left at the common area car park rubbish bin.

the first one.
i think any workshop also almost same, sure from time to time push you on certain things.
that's why you need to preplan your response. understand what they say, and say you think about it, and you ask around / search around for more info/feedback.

how much money do u actually save by buying oil n filter outside?

cost of that + workmanship cost these days may end up costing more than just buying the stuff at the workshop n changing at the workshop itself.

wanna really save money, learn to do it urself.

for me, saving is one thing.
but getting the oil and filter myself, that's the main thing.

of course, unless it comes to a point where getting them from workshop is much cheaper than getting them myself.
then i will probably hunt for a workshop that provide the oil i want.

They charge by the activity, not by time
There's a max limit charge for each type of activity, normally workshops got display a table of the charges, required by the government

My dad home in Semenyih. Workshop here still rm50 for oil change, i bring my own oil. They use suction equipment, so faster. Maybe better on removing the old oil than normal

For me, it is better to keep track of the air filter. When was the last change... For older car better change it once in a while....

i have all my service record entered into OneNote and I would usually double check if the foreman upsell or it's due to change

LOL. Years ago, pop into a petrol service station that also have a garage and they charge RM10 for the labor. Of course they wouldn't bother checking or selling other stuffs.
