QUOTE(pac1 @ Nov 17 2007, 07:17 PM) Can or cant autofocus with D40 depends on what lens loh, if its Nikkor AF-S or Sigma HSM lenses, then no problem pairing with D40 at all. If not, then you'll have to manual focus loh. If can find a good condition D50 or D70 or D70s, go get them if you dun mind owning a used unit. you or any of your friends experiencing any bad things happened when the bought 2nd hand unit? d50 is quite old for a second hand, 1 or 1 1/2 years or more the kit lens that comes with the d40 can auto focus right?

On some condition ppl will use it. An example when i wan to shoot a lot of photo using same Apeture continuosly or wanna do some effect. Shutter also the same thing. Better go for D40.

Sorry, never have any experiences on a used unit. Try buy an used unit from camera shop, usually they'll give you few months warranty on it. Of course D40 can auto focus with the kit lens, check the first page of this thread to see what lenses can autofocus with D40/40x.

Don't get Olympus... four thirds sucks D200/300 gives different results compared to D40... from experience unless you are confident in playing around with the settings to achive a desired effect it will give you very plain/bland pictures with default settings. D40 will give more vivid photos out of the box without the need for as much tweaking.

QUOTE(Victor3010 @ Nov 17 2007, 11:38 AM) Put to M mode and put the shutter speed to -- (which is the remote control bulb mode).. Far out, just tested it on mine and it worked. We tested it in store last time on a D80 and it didn't work, so I never bothered. Thx

I bought mine here in Australia so my prices aren't really relevant I think... if you convert the prices it's a lot more expensive here. The place where I work sells digital cameras and stuff as part of their range but they don't really carry much high end equipment. I managed to get them to order in the 190XPROB so I paid cost (approx. AUD$190) and used it with a lousy head until I found the 488RC0 (~$150), exchange rate is pretty high right now so all up it was around RM1k. I had a choice between the RC0/RC2/RC4 but RC2 has no spirit levels and RC4 is too big.
I was deciding between flash and head as well, but Nikon stuff is heavily overpriced here so I might hold out until Feb when I'm in KL and get a SB-800 then.
