Link: https://www.mot.gov.my/en/aaib/report/a05-23 According to the report, a pilot inadvertently extended the lift dump spoilers, something that should never be done during normal flight. It caused the aircraft to loss lift suddenly. The report also blame the insufficient crew training about the lift dump system. The report's conclusion also mentioned that the aircraft operator failed to obtain necessary approval for non-scheduled flight This post has been edited by cshong: Aug 16 2024, 10:30 PM

QUOTE(kimochi ii @ Aug 16 2024, 03:21 PM) No. It is not flap. It is a device that used to reduce the lift. It can be used when the pilot need to abort take off, or when the pilot need to reduce the aircraft's speed.

QUOTE(norman05051984 @ Aug 16 2024, 03:48 PM) Betul, I watched too many Aircrash investigation in Nat Geo to understand this Awaiting ACI documentary to cover this crash. When it did, I hope it will interview our local investigators (if the government allow it).

QUOTE(atreyuangel @ Aug 16 2024, 06:45 PM) Almost 90% of crashed is caused by human error. If the Elmina crash pilots are piloting an Airbus A380, and the flight is full, and they do the same mistake, you can imagine how many people will die.

QUOTE(mambangafro @ Aug 16 2024, 08:54 PM) Unlikely, A380 is more like a flying computer.... Please correct me if I am wrong. I thought Airbus's computers were not designed to override pilot's action? When the pilot operate any control surface, it will signal to the computers that the pilot want to take control. Isn't it? Then, autopilot will be disengaged automatically, right?
