But i still dont get it, why would a overclocker want to have 4 different clockspeeds for each cores :S

My amd restarts at 70C to 80C when the fan was breaking down. Meh?

Anything multicore chip based on the same architecture will be able to change core clocks independently of each other. However, current OSes can't schedule heavier threads on faster cores so it's not very useful at this point.

Not really, but you could put dual-threaded apps to affinity 1 & 2, clock those b****es high, and get 3 and 4 into C&Q or something like that sort of throttling to get thermals manageable (instead of requiring heavy cooling)

All the cores are still on the same power plane (only the cores and IMC are on separate power planes) so you're not saving any energy by running some cores faster while some slower as all will continue to draw power.

Fan was broken, somehow its rpm decreases unless I put my casing horizontally >.> . I'm a noob overclocker only 1666mhz ---> 2000 mhz sad.gif.

I might try and do better if I have the time (must download anime).

Good question.
I've wanted to ask the question too. blink.gif

However, it is great that we can see now that AMD does approve overclocking by creating this program. smile.gif

Yes, like catalyst overdrive is limited, but i suppose you could edit (hack) the binary to allow unlimited max value  thumbup.gif

Well, most of the games/application uses/optimize single to dual core due to the time of programming. Thus, by having lower speed at last two cores, over clockers can increase first two cores much higher. This is an example.
