Dimension-wise, the BYD Sealion 6 measures 4,775 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, 1,670 mm in height, and is underpinned by a 2,765 mm wheelbase. It comes with a MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear independent suspension.

Paired with an electric motor, the PHEV setup puts out a system output of 217 hp (metric) and 300 Nm, allowing the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds. The Sealion 6 comes with an 18.3 kWh BYD Blade battery.

Autolifethailand (ALT) was able to confirm that BYD will be manufacturing it in RHD which is suited for markets like Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and others countries in the region.

https://thedriven.io/2024/05/28/byd-sea-lio...launch-in-2024/

But it was talking about it when EV version was previewed

That is the only answer I have found

Actually if you don't like to buy from and get served by Sime Darby, if you are living around KL, you can try Harmony Auto

PHEV is always going to cost more that ICE and BEV in Malaysia, coz no tax haven plus the fact that the manufacturing cost is higher with both system in the same bodyshell.

This Sealion 07 EV gonna bring huge challenge to Model Y with its 800v architecture and 230kw DC charging in LFP battery. It is quite a breakthrough that LFP battery can take up to 230kw DC charging. Hope the selling price is attractive and will definitely get more attention from public.

Designed by BYD's global design director Wolfgang Egger, the Sealion 7 has a distinctive "Ocean X" front styling, low-slung bonnet, and sweeping fastback design.

The midsize SUV was launched in China in May 2024, and https://carnewschina.com reported that there are four variants:

The variants are:

- 550 Standard
- 610 Long Range
- 610 Smart
- 550 4WD Smart5)

Car News China reported that two-wheel drive models include electric motors with 230kW and 170kW power outputs.

Meanwhile, the four-wheel drive model has two motors, with maximum power outputs of 160kW and 230kW.

The single-motor model offers two range options: 550km and 610km, while the dual-motor model has a range of 550km.

Maximum torque is 380 Nm, with 0-100 sprint times of 7.3 seconds and 6.7 seconds, respectively. The battery capacity is 71.8 kWh and 80.64 kWh.

The BYD Sea Lion 07 can charge 10 – 80% in 25 minutes.

Sime Darby Motors has revealed that it will be hosting the Sealion 7 showcase at The Exchange 106, Kuala Lumpur from 15 to 17 November.

I drove passed this car this morning. White variant. Probably the best looking ev right now. My first thought from afar it was a Porsche car. Then realised it was a byd sealion 6. Brunei plate no and Dm-i phev variant if not mistaken.

...After unveiling the new mid-size electric SUV at the Paris Motor Show last month, BYD’s Sealion 7 stole the show.

BYD’s head designer Wolfgang Egger said the new model is “more than just a simple SUV.” It’s “an expression of a special lifestyle.”

Egger is known for his iconic designs for Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, and Audi models. He’s also sort of an expert in attracting European customers, something BYD hopes to do.

You can see the influence of his past designs with sleek, flowing character lines and an aerodynamic profile. With an extended wheelbase, the sporty-looking electric SUV also has a spacious interior loaded with BYD’s latest software and connectivity tech.

The Sealion is the first EV to ride on its upgraded e-Platform 3.0 Evo, which BYD promises unlocks faster charging and better performance...

BYD Sealion 7 Malaysia: High-performance electric SUV with over 500km range, starts at RM184k

BYD Sealion 7 Malaysia pricing, colourways

For Malaysia, the Sealion 7 can be obtained in two variants:

BYD Sealion 7 Performance: RM183,800
BYD Sealion 7 Premium: RM199,800

Regardless of the variant that you prefer, there are 4 colourways to choose from including Cosmos Black, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, and Shark Grey. As part of the launch, Sime Darby Motors is now offering a free home charger and RM800 worth of charging credits to customers who purchase and register their Sealion 7 by 31 December 2024.

BYD Sealion 7 quick specs

The BYD Sealion 7 Premium comes with a rear wheel drive setup and features a 230kW (308hp) motor that can deliver 380Nm of torque. In terms of acceleration, this variant is able to deliver 0-100km/h timing of 6.7 seconds.

As mentioned before, Sealion 7 Performance is available in Malaysia too. This version comes with an all wheel drive setup and features a 390kW (523hp) motor with 690Nm of torque alongside 0-100km/h timing of 4.5 seconds.

In terms of range, the Premium model can deliver an NEDC-rated range of 567km while its Performance counterpart offers an NEDC-rated range of 542km. However, BYD did not reveal the much more accurate WLTP range figures for the Sealion 7.

The same 82.5kWh battery pack powers both variants of the Sealion 7 in Malaysia. This means that they are based on the older 400V e-Platform 3.0 architecture which has a much lower DC charging capability of 150kW.

As a comparison, the version sold in Europe is based on the newer 800V e-Platform 3.0 Evo which has a much faster DC charging speed of 230kW. That being said, the Sealion 7 for the Malaysian market is equipped with an 11kW AC onboard charger – the first BYD model to come with it.

The Sealion 7 EV looks great, and you need to go compare it with Tesla Model Y, and you will see how deep the Model Y's addition storage is. and how good the Tesla 17 speakers is.

While Sealion 7 EV's 12 speakers is no slob and would satisfy just about anyone who is willing to pay for this car.

Did anyone explore to see if Sealion 7 EV have sentry mode? or does it have Pet mode?

I don't understand why model Y is so popular, it really looks ugly to me. Sealion 7 is the best looking car in this segment and I think it will sell well. From what I heard so far, people seem to be amazed with the Xpeng G6's speakers. I didn't get a chance to check out the sound system when I test drove it.

oh will go check out the Xpeng as well. The Supercharger network is one reason for people to go for it. it is like a proven recipe. May pay quite a bit more, but having those chargers... makes a difference.

Only 12 charging stations in the peninsular and all in town areas. How is that even a selling point in Malaysia? Tesla SC are only a selling point the US and some EU countries where they have many. They have basically stopped expanding and growth of charging stations will be very slow if any at all worldwide.

No need adapter, in Malaysia all EVs use CCS2 including Tesla. Only the Nissan Leaf will need adapter coz using Chademo. Not sure whether Tesla even allow others to use their SC right now but will likely open up in the future. But it is highly likely that Gentari or ChargEV will be the ones that setup at R&R first and maybe later only allow others to come in.
