Take a look at those Intel N100 or N97 mini pc. I'm using it to replace my pc at office and home. Bought another gaming laptop for my son instead.

Idling at 6w, max 30w or so (can be adjusted in bios from 15w/25w/35w). Equivalent to 6th Gen Intel. Support AV1. You wont even mind leaving it on 24/7 with 6w idling consumption. Between RM580-700 depending on lazada/shopee with the right discount voucher during double date, 15th or 25th monthly sale.

The only weakness is the wifi card. If you use LAN, then its fine. Dual 1G LAN, dual/triple HDMI output. 12GB DDR5 with N97 and 16GB DDR5 with N100.

Just get one of those cheap Netflix & Prime, Google certified Box.

Install Brave browser via Google Play.

My budget around 200++, so my choice is onn 4k 2023, mecool and kickpi. Which one is better? If all same, my choice is onn 4k 2023 since it's cheaper.

Mecool has the best CPU and the best for games too but u'll need an xbox controller. Slightly Dodgy HDR due to software.

Onn 4K is the best value for your stated purposes but is twice the price here compared to walmart.

Tanix Kickpi KP1 is cheaper on Aliexpress. Have USB-C. Bigger ROM. Similar CPU to Onn 4K.

Cons. All do not support Dolby Vision (double the money), no WiFi 6 and only have 100MB ethernet (as most netflix certified box).

Get a BT airmouse to browse and navigate better.

My apologies... I have given up on Android box since a few years ago. I just couldnt understand why Android box is lagging so far behind when Android phone has so many powerful SoC at affordable price. Most of them still suck at 2GB RAM.

I guess most Android box are solely for watch a single video app which don't even require any extra performance.4K any geekbench 6 of 150-300 is enough.No multitasking , I don't see anyone gaming using an android box , maybe retro.

No demand = no upgrade.During covid , there are a high demand on android box 2020 all 2GB consider a lot and most phone during 2020 is just 3-4GB.
but now stop at 2GB since no demand except demand on 8k.

Browser max only 1080p on youtube.You know youtube on desktop have more function like searching within channel.There is no youtube apps that can search video within channel except for browser base.

The thing is, the CPU in most android boxes are quite weak, there is just enough power for a basic UI, and the video processing is all handled by dedicated hardware decoder

Can check out SmartTube, it's a client like Vanced, but with it's own UI, I think it may have the features you want

Yeah, just look at the lagging UI even on expensive Android/Google TV, makes my blood boil. Paying 5k for a TV with subpar Android experience. Tried mibox is slightly faster but ultimately still subpar. As much as people said Tizen is limited, but the UI fluidity is something Android is struggling to match. The only benefit of Android TV is when you want good SQ, you can attach a usb dac. Other than that, nah, Android/Google TV sucks.

i am not sure why are you facing issue with Google TV.
My experience with android TV is superb. Not only the built in support that are decently good as delivered. Google TV allow you to sideload apk

Then you use Tizen os with android is again bias Tizen is a sub os comparable to android.
Perhap, something is missing is your device or something may not have went well.

You are mostly looking at it from the software side of things. Did I complain anything about Google/Android TV not working? No... what Im complaining is the hardware that powered most of these Google TV are severely lacking in performance, lagging UI. What is it that you dont get? Using Mibox as comparison to Google TV is unfair? Im merely using a Mibox2 as comparison whereas my Sony X90J is just a 3 years old product IINM.

Tizen is a sub os? What is the problem when the hardware Samsung included with the TV is more than capable of offering a smoother and fluid experience compare to most Android TV? Android is flexible, yes but the whole experience sucks with the included hardware.

Same SmartTube also don't have function to search within channel.Have to go to browser search then share to youtube vanced.

Tizen , Mibox higher Hardware but adding another layer UI on ASOP which make it lag.

Conclusion , if just youtube eveything is fine but for extra 4K browser , multi task , gaming , 4-6GB RAM are needed.
Most manufacturer go for Allwinner , Amlogic , Rockchip , Realtek which is a cheap processor and knowing buyer just using a single apps doesn't need high capabilities like mediatek or SD.
Except for nvidia shield using Tegra.

For me I just need an android box can install vanced , a decent smooth browser for 1080p , bluetooth , mirror screen and just 2 USB port can power up 2.5 HDD.
Any suggestion ? I don't mind 2nd hand since normal watching tv .
