This is shit ... will have effect on the industry on a whole.

One of the reasons for investment in Malaysia in the tech sector was the promise of no censorship under the MSC list of guarantees, but Najib and subsequent governments have rolled that back.

Jibby's gahmen started all these internet censorship right after Nazri's pictures were leaked.

Coincidence? I think not! laugh.gif

if the concern is privacy, you should be using dns over tls by now no? myself i rather have less restriction, dont give a shit much about privacy.
*
I mean not privacy per se, but more like setting up precedence.
Previously this level of tampering is pretty much only happen at mobile ISP level on ground of monetization. Doing this as a matter of national policy ? now this is a new low.

can you call it a national policy if gomen did this senyap2?
the guideline probably been there for quite sometime, just that it takes time(+resources) to implement.

Siti Kasim: This gomen took down my posting from Malaysiakini where the guy brought his family to Olympic. Why? To shut down our contempt? Who are they trying to kid? They think by erasing the news, people are going to shut up? This shows the abuse they're willing to do to protect their shenanigans. Imagine when they start licensing these social media platforms. We're going to be further screwed by this gomen. Disgusting!

I don't trust what Fahmi and BMX said.
I believe the whole purpose of licensing social media platforms is another way of controlling what news is beneficial to the them.
And now here it comes with the DNS tampering to control what you can access or not.

If you use Chrome, just enable Secure DNS in the settings and it will circumvent this

There's something equivalent for most browsers and they should be enabled by default these days

Latency performance is going to take a hit with transparent proxies.

Expect some degrading of internet performance, not to the extend of unusable but those who are used to smooth surfing might feel like before.

Pay hundreds for internet subscription only to be restricted by a wall for content filtering.

That being said we should not be overpaying for our internet. Have to use other means to circumvent the blocks.

You go read their thread at the Network subforum, their users already complaining about some sites being redirected to TM's own walled sites and not the actual one.

TM is always the first to implement these type of filtering among all ISPs in Malaysia. The funds and budget always reaches them first because of the R&R policy for tenders in this country also being the most popular ISP in the country.
