BALIK PULAU: "Saya tak pandang kekurangannya, tetapi lihat kekuatan semangatnya yang sanggup datang dari jauh seorang diri untuk menuntut ilmu," kata Mohd Zaidil Adha Mat Hussin.

Pensyarah Jabatan Teknologi Maklumat dan Komunikasi di Politeknik Balik Pulau itu, menerusi hantaran di Facebook kelmarin, berkongsi pengalaman membantu penuntut baharu, Lim Zi Yang, 18, yang datang berseorangan mendaftar pengajian Diploma Teknologi Maklumat.

Kisah dikongsikan Mohd Zaidil Adha 46, juga Pegawai Hal Ehwal Pelajar (Pengambilan dan Data) di politeknik sama mencuri perhatian warganet.

Bercerita lanjut, katanya, dia cuba membantu Zi Yang selepas dihubungi bapa penuntut berkenaan pada Jumaat lalu yang memohon kebenaran supaya anaknya dimasukkan ke asrama lebih awal walaupun tarikh pendaftaran pada kelmarin.

"Saya tanya kenapa tak ikut sama dan jawabnya, tak cukup duit. Waktu dengar jawapan itu, saya sudah mula rasa kasihan, jadi beritahu pihak pengurusan untuk permohonan kemasukan awal ke asrama dan siap sedia jemput anaknya di perhentian bas Balik Pulau pada pagi Sabtu.

"Belum sempat jemput, dia sudah tiba di depan perpustakaan, namun masalah timbul apabila beg mengandungi pakaian dan dokumen penting tertukar dengan orang lain.

"Saya perlu bawa dia semula ke Terminal Bas Sungai Nibong sebelum ke Terminal Bas Penang Sentral untuk tuntut beg," katanya.

Sepanjang perjalanan pergi dan pulang dari terminal bas, Mohd Zaidil Adha dapat melihat sikap Zi Yang yang taat kepada bapanya, selain keberaniannya kerana boleh datang menaiki bas bersendirian walaupun belum pernah menjejakkan kaki ke Pulau Pinang.

"Waktu dalam kereta, saya nampak dia ambil gambar Jambatan Pulau Pinang dan kirimkan kepada bapanya. Sebelum pulang, selepas saya bawa beli barang keperluan di sebuah pasar raya pun, dia minta singgah di kedai ubat Cina untuk beli minuman dan ubat seperti diminta bapanya.

"Jadi, saya nampak dia anak yang mendengar kata, malah nampak semangatnya kerana dia beritahu saya dia enggan berhenti belajar kerana anak tunggal dan menjadi harapan keluarga ," katanya.

Berhubung perkongsiannya di FB, Mohd Zaidil Adha tidak menyangka ia akan tular kerana niatnya sekadar berkongsi kisah dan pengalamannya.

"Alhamdulillah, baca komen ramai positif dan ucap tahniah selain mengharap kejayaannya pada masa depan. Ada juga komen menyatakan apa saya buat itu adalah apa yang Malaysia mahukan kerana nampak semangat perpaduan.

"Hakikatnya, saya bantu tanpa tengok perbezaan kaum, agama atau bangsa kerana mana-mana penuntut memerlukan, saya akan bantu. Malah sering juga dengar luahan serta perkongsian ibu bapa mengenai masalah anak mereka.

"Cuma kebetulan, perkongsian kisah ini mendapat perhatian, mungkin kerana saya dan dia berlainan bangsa," katanya.

Katanya lagi, apa yang menarik apabila Ketua Pengarah Jabatan Pendidikan Politeknik dan Kolej Komuniti (JPPKK), Datuk Dr Mohd Zahari Ismail juga datang bertemu Zi Yang ketika sesi pendaftaran penuntut baharu kelmarin.

Malays are stagnant eventhough with all these "special privileges" and "tongkats" because some of them don't even get to use it but thinking they did, thus start being complacent and waiting for more help. And those who do, either a helang with plenty of tongkats or a common selected people that will just avoid competition altogether
Also, religion riders will take the chance to brainwash common people using the exact same tactic as politicians, which inherited from plain old British rules pre-independence
It's a sad state for everyone in this country, because the formula works and this country is going down the drain until everyone realized that we are all has been scammed by those who only think about themselves

what that means, the officer asked his dad why was he not coming along with his son, and he replied not enough money. probably he didn't have enough money to get x3 bus tickets back and forth from Johor to Penang. he only has enough money for his son to Penang.

In 1990, I too took a bus alone from Kelantan to Johor. I was 18 yo too. Travelling alone from hometown to JB to get into UTM. Family no money to come along. Arrived 2 days before registration day. UTM did give me a room to stay. Tq to the understanding staffs back then.

Managed to get my degree there, with study loan of course. then Master then PhD.
