Nah, compared to Digivice ver 15th & Complete ver sold few years back. Sell at similar price but still black white LCD pixel.

This one is full color LCD with features like full haptic feedback & OST from anime. Bandai still experimenting new features. Digimon ver 30th gonna be hot stuffs.

If you want to better rv go for pendulum not the og vpet.

Must buy for me. Digivice is better than virtual vpet as it is stand alone item, no need much connection with others (sohai pendulum digimon evolution line locked with jogress)

D-3 is still selling like hot cakes in the market. Guess it's because it's among the strongest in open prong category? Hoping to see D-3 and D-Arks coming up with the color versions.


I know the color vpets have less sprites and narrower evolution tree compared to 20th anv, but one thing I appreciate is that they open up the color world. It has to start somewhere. I think the colors are done really well. Still have the pixel feel, but the color gradients are amazing.

Actually, how does digivice function? Didn't own it before. I can't even afford a pendulum during small time. Only able to own the version 1 vpet.

if i remember correctly, digivice has its own world and quest . u basically take your mon and it count your steps (basically shake2 your mon got step counter one). the quest involves u and your partner mon traversing thru the mini digivice world and go until the final boss . along the way the digivolution will unlock.

for me the best part is, there is NO CARE MISTAKES. this part alone is worth it .

if you buy regular virtual pets even pendulum, u need to keep it fed and cleaned otherwise will be dead. Me busy in office often forgot to do this end up most dieded.

however this is a non issue for digivice mons.

I was late to preorder this digivice but at least I sempat preorder pendulum color v2 (metal empire). Pendulum color aftermarket can get pretty expensive since it's a pbandai release.

To add on, nowadays the Digivice/Pendulum uses pedometer. The shaker, iinm, is just for the "old school feel". The pendulum doesn't have to touch the sensor in order for the step to be counted. You can just "vibrate" the body and the steps will be counted.

The Pendulum series is often misunderstood, like when we were young, we thought we need to shake it as much as we could to get "MEGA HIT". Actually each digimon has its own optimal number of shakes to achieve MEGA HIT.

Lots of guides nowadays can let us get any digimon we want. We also have the Pcom device to use as sparring slave to meet the battle requirement to digivolve.

Sounds quite nice, but seems like the style is a bit different from normal vpet where we need to feed them. This is more like bringing your pet for adventure instead of raising it.

Let me google more on this. If interesting, then might get 1 unit

Yes, and it's somewhat suitable for working adults since even if you leave it there for a long while, the Digimon won't die without feeding. You can always continue your adventure any time. This is why D2, D3, and D-Arks are fun on their own way.

On the other hand, the Digimon will revert back to their Rookie stage outside of battle, unlike the vpets where it will not "devolve" after it digivolves.

This D2 color has also included many interactive elements not found in the D2 15th edition or D2 version complete. So it's really an old present with new surprises to all fans celebrating the 25th anniversary.

Nah..the root of Digimon franchise is the small portable device toy you bring everywhere.

They already experimenting with Vital Bracelets series back in 2021. Digimon still need to train in device now in shape of smartwatch but you can sync the data to the app via NFC in smartphone. The problem is the app they made is quite bad. The first app VB Lab there is nothing wrong with it but for some dumb reasons Bandai phased out the app and replaced with VB Arena which is far worse function.

And knowing BandaiNamco style the app will end the service life in just few years, not even reaching 5 years of age like they done on most Digimon games on android and ios. Digimon isn't meant for smartphone platform.

If you play heavy of course need to charge often but the vpet color battery life is like 7-10 days before you need to charge again.

Expect same for Digivice ver 25th to. Maybe 1 week before need to charge again. Good thing is they use Type C so you can just hook up powerback whenever you want to play.

probably train the digimon in the device, upload it via cross-platform for global fightout with tiers / bracket / lvl with guildwars. a man can only dream. but hey pokemon last time 2d jer then come arceus become open world is a huge step but they fail to capitalize in terms of gameplay for like sheild and sword. hopefully the upcoming one can address this

I never like smartphone platform for Digimon. Short service life. I prefer old school portable device that is last longer for decades. Still keeping my vpet toy from year 2002 and can be playing back if I want to.

There is fan made Digimon W0rld. It's like social game you can hooked up with old vpet & Digivice linking with programming device called A-Com/D-Com to the server via PC & android. You meet up play with other players and doing quests. Occasionally had an event where you can win the real prize lol. Dunno why the game not longer popular now seem like abandoned by developers. Cool concept and potential hit if made by Bandai.

u can get any of the normal virtual pets (V1-5) / pendulum

although for beginner I suggest u get the 20th anniversary edition, although not rechargable but the roster is from 1-5.

If you can find, Digimon Version Revival. So far i think the largest roster of digimon (all the brick versions 1 to 5 rolled into 1). Can raise TWO digimons at once mcm the digimon twin cheat but real lol. There are some mega level digimon inside now and you can even jogress some digimons if you have the two right ones or with another device but not many digimons to jogress into. But IMO if you are not a genwunner, the digimon vpet Xs (US or Jp releases) are way better in terms of QoL and they have X-antibody digimons which some love and some hate. The Digimon Pendulum version 20 have the entire pendulum roster 1 to 5 and can also raise 2 digimons at once and you can go ham with the jogress. If you want color and a rechargeable battery, the digimon color is nice but the roster is mostly the same as the old ones (smaller compared to Vpet revival) but the ultimates can evolve into megas.
Don't get the Digimon vpet 20th aniversary editions or the 20th aniversary US release ones for gameplay because they all have this weird feature/bug where the digimon will poop so often that the entire screen will be filled with poop after 1 or 2 hours. If you want to just put them on a shelf, the US release of the Digimon vpet 20th aniversary is cheap, like RM80 and comes with nice colors, and in a cardboard box which has some nice art styling on it. The US release of the Vpet X also come in a nice box for display and is also relatively cheap but I forgot how much exactly.

Personally, I'd start with Digivice Ver. Complete because very similar to the D2 released in year 2000. Shake to progress (with pedometer built-in) and battle after every 500 steps. The roster is quite up-to-date.

Digivice Adventure 2020 doesn't need you to shake to walk. Just click and play. Some may find it less similar to the D2 (2000), however this one is definitely cheaper, sometimes by more than 50% aftermarket price.

Classic Digimon without pendulum, can go for the 1997 releases if you look for nostalgic value. Somewhat cheap (around RM100-RM200), but without the right tool, you'll still get stuck at Champion level Digimon.

To enjoy (almost) every Digimon in the roster, can opt for Digimon X and Digimon 20th Anniversary. Both can be found less than RM80, and they have built-in quest system for you to battle opponents to achieve evolution requirement. But if you find the Digimon 20th Anniversary poop problem overwhelming (yes, your digimon will get 4 poops and fall sick around 2~3 hours idle), then Digimon Revival (only in JP language) will be the closest. Both X and 20th Anv have different gameplay, and X has a more "adventurous" feel where every day you will roll a dice which decides the playing experience of the day, i.e., good results affect your battle and training.

If you want old school feel with built-in battle system (i.e., 1 unit of Digimon vpet can get you to the ultimate level), then you can look at Digimon vpet color especially version 1. New ones around RM250-RM300. It comes with built-in rechargeable battery, allows you to unlock nearly every Digimon in the roster (sans some specific Super Mega level Digimons which you need external help), and the gameplay is very identical to the vpet version 1~5 released in year 1997 onwards.

Of course there are also Digimon Pendulums.

But for fun sake, don’t look at the evolution tree until you reached Champion level haha. Let you have suspense on what the digimon will digivolve to. Read too much will spoil the surprise.

You can also check the guide in that website as a quick start to learn the basics. Might want to keep some spare CR2032 batteries when the default battery runs out!

Can watch the videos from HK side because they already got the stock. It’s basically a walking game where you’ll encounter enemies and fight them with your digimon partner. You’ll unlock more digimons along the way and fight the eventual big boss. Difference this time is that you’ll watch animation when digivolving like the anime in year 2000!
