I knew quite a few people people working in garment manufacturing industry.

Adidas, Nike or whatever brand likely it came from same supplier factory in Vietnam

If you want to get good quality clothing go for Uniqlo…those that work in this industry commented their quality is very good

Higher price =/= quality

Uniqlo is cheap and the quality far more superior than any brands that you mentioned.

And the way to wash is also very important, some clothes will instantly ruined if you wash it wrongly.

correct, due to the movement of fast fashion plus major cost cutting directives, alot of our clothing are now severely overpriced for its quality

nowadays im only shopping mostly places like uniqlo (but changing since some stuff getting pricier) or other local brands like oxwhite and thousandmiles

if i want big name casual brands like nike/adidas i rather find outlets or clearance sales

Really? I feel their clothing look old very fast. I have a lot of uniqlo clothes due to the sizes.. Quality is okay but the color or fabric fade after a few months. Any recommended brands on men work wear for Asian S size 😅😅 European brands have to find XS.. which is rare.. and the sleeves always too long 😅

I have been buying Luca Faloni and Loro Piana. Their clothes are very very good quality. Am looking at Falconeri next as they seem to be on par with Luca Faloni but less expensive.

i recently went in to look around
i remember their windbreaker earlier this year is RM79.9 brand new(no promo price), thn i saw the exact same thing but it's price RM149.9 now
i try to verify if it's the same thing by name and by every detail on it...turns out its the same thing but double in price
and RM129.9 is their promo price rclxub.gif

i told my brother and he said uniqlo recently increase the prices of their clothing...for me it's by a lot

Wah if it's the very same product and they increase the price close to two-fold without any changes, mmg perbuatan jahanam tu. bruce.gif

But I guess those unexpecting and unaware are where Uniqlo will make the money on with this increase

I know from Vietnam not too sure if same supplier. Lots of textiles manufactured in Vietnam these days.

Bought allegedly real but rejected Under Armour and Adidas sports shirts for <RM 20 /ea at pasar malam there. All had some very minor defect (logo senget, size label wrong, sleeve length not same etc.) but quality all feels good.
Still using all of them 8 years later.

As a ringgit thousandair (I don't have 1 million ringgit), I notworthy.gif the way you buy your clothes.

I do the same: wait for sales or go to outlets to buy last season's clothes, and buy enough to last a year.

Rinse and repeat.

Over here in my taman, cheras district

An Afghani/Pakistani old man with his hand push trolley cart, he collects garbage around my taman since about 8 years ago,

I noticed he wears the traditional Pakistani long robe the whole day under the hot sun, pushing the trolley cart full of metal items, the same long robe he wears for years, still wearing it

I suspect those long robe must be of super high quality

Yes?

My American Levis jeans can't even last that long

Yes i would say quality drop as they know they do not have to make the clothing to last anymore as most will buy new ones before the old ones wear out due to current fashion trends.

gotta maybe understand the materials used
Nylon, spandex, polyester, cotton (many many types), lycra, PP etc just to name a few
- hint: look for Rayon, or PP microfibres

find the type that you like, and for cotton, the country of origin that makes the best quality

if synthetics, find out which one lasts longest without fading or going out of shape, good wetting behavior (absorbs sweat/water, wicking, without sticking to the skin or showing up as a wet t-shirt contestant) and good laundry practices. The term "Dri-fit" has been abused, as many if not some synthetics do not wet, nor wick, not to mention dry...

Uniqlo has collaboration with Toray, and some premium materials from Europe, while some are cash cow products

Yeah, recently got increase in price. But not the one you mentioned.

79.90 and 149.90 is two different model. They may look the same but the fabric is different.

79.90 probably increased to 99.90 now
99.90 increased to 129.90
129.90 increased to 149.90
etc..
is what i noticed over the years

oooff.. double the price.

I also have these. i got three, a blue one, a red one and an orange one. i think my first one was 79.90. the second one and third one i bought like within the span of 3 years. There were indeed price difference over the years but i can understand because there were minor changes in material and design and our weakened ringgit. But this was like in 2019-2021.

Now its 149.90..crazy. Must be selling well.

they have always maintain their price over the years..never increase at all
but for me even RM79.90 is already hard to swallow.....so 149.90 is rclxub.gif

their other clothing also increase like RM20-30 from what i saw

I think its not just fabric quality. Nowadays a lot people dont bother to read laundry label / instructions. All clothes throw into washing machine press start and that's it

I rather shop at Padini, Brands Outlet, F.O.S than shop at H&M.

I don't know why people still shop at H&M. Their quality is so bad.
I bought 1 tshirt last time and the quality is exactly like I bought at Pasar Malam every Sunday

Noticed Uniqlo clothes quality dropped for some items, like they will mix linen / cotton with rayon / polyester and price increased with less discounts like pre MCO. What a pity, I suppose due to inflation and ringgit devalue.

Padini is goat? I don't know but whatever I bought from there gets fucked up after wearing like 10 times for whatever reason. Like bruh my pasar malam clothes from 10 years ago are still in decent condition compared to those trash

I rather shop at Padini, Brands Outlet, F.O.S than shop at H&M.

I don't know why people still shop at H&M. Their quality is so bad.
I bought 1 tshirt last time and the quality is exactly like I bought at Pasar Malam every Sunday
*
as a plain clothing person like me i would still shop at h&m months ago tried looking for some plain shirt among padini, brands outlet and fos all of them were really weird and mess yet h&m shirts not that bad still fine for me along with their price

padini quality is hit or miss

like one said above, its a fav among fresh grads to buy their first office wear (so did i)

generally some of their quality pretty decent, i wore some daily for 2-3yrs before the neck collar part started to wear and tear

but some like you said, abit2 rosak so easily tho rarely in my case

Higher price =/= quality

Uniqlo is cheap and the quality far more superior than any brands that you mentioned.

And the way to wash is also very important, some clothes will instantly ruined if you wash it wrongly.
*
lol my Uniqlo is dead after few washes.

The better quality one is the one with heavier GSM. Uniqlo quality is subpar unless you’re not into fashion. The neckline easily wrinkle

I'm same as you but find H&M and Uniqlo ones jatuh standard alot compared to those days. H&M cutting also weird now, material also much thinner compared to last time

No idea. 90% of shirts I wore, I bought during high school. Trousers, most were bought 10 years ago. Other shirts are all hand-me-downs or from events (need to wear formal attire). Will only throw out clothes when fabric becomes too thin and lots of holes.

I do go out buy work clothes from time to time (when lusuh). I stay away from high-end shops, even Aeon. Go to something like Pantai Timur. Quality for the price better. Don't care what brand shirt it is. If it works for university students, will work for me.

depends what you're looking for
since they already increased the price, sales meant nothing already...it's already more expensive than non-sales brand new previously

I knew quite a few people people working in garment manufacturing industry.

Adidas, Nike or whatever brand likely it came from same supplier factory in Vietnam

If you want to get good quality clothing go for Uniqlo…those that work in this industry commented their quality is very good
*
I agree with you.

Name is American brand, but mostly made in Vietnam or Bangladesh... lousy fabric...sizes not standard... some cutting bigger, some smaller, etc.

I trust Japanese brands. Just check their labels if made in China or not.. haha..

Uniqlo in Japan is cheaper. Walking all 12 storeys in Ginza, worth it all. Soft comfy material.

To maintain the quality of clothes, need to read their labels, how to wash them.

Don't expose too much sunshine, hanging outdoors from morning till evening... don't fully dry in dryers..

I do it half, half... After wash, dry under hot sun a while then put in dryer for 30 minutes or less.

Another wise answer. We buy like a year’s worth of Uniqlo from Japan because the savings are really substantial.

I do the same: wait for sales or go to outlets to buy last season's clothes, and buy enough to last a year.

Rinse and repeat.

Millionaire or not, best time to buy in MY is before Raya or Deepavali during the sales as they cater for lower income so many brands do discounts to push up sales and clear stock. Since my pants are either Levis or Dockers, best time to buy is July-Aug, where their 50-70% sale’s starts. . I buy before CNY instead of a few days before.

I’m with you bro, and if some of you care to read let me explain why below.

Years ago I was intrigued as to why Steve Jobs is always seen in black shirt and jeans (although Issey Miyaki designed them).

Apparently he does that that because of simplicity, he does not want to wake up figuring out (& wasting time) what to wear.

I thought about adopting it at my work place, but found it a little drastic, but gradually I went for the polo shirt & jeans look at the office (I worked in tech so that's easy). Same dark blue jeans but my polo shirts have neutral colours.

Now that I'm retired, I threw out most of my clothes from my work days. I wanted to simplify more.

I remember reading a tweet from Paul(ine) Tan who mentioned that he buys his black cotton t-shirts from Shopee (and they cost less than RM10). If you see his photos he is always in a black t-shirt, and yes those cost less than RM10.

I liked this idea so I went to Shopee and bought a few cotton tshirts that all cost less than RM15 each. You can choose from 160gm, or the thicker quality ones that 220gm. Thicker means they last longer, but can also mean that they are hotter to wear in this malaysian weather. I chose the 180gm ones.

I found one that I liked (the cutting, texture) so I bought 5 in black and 5 in white. They are now my daily wear as a retired man, paired along with my shorts (Banana Republic/Muji ones which I bought years ago and still good today).

All in all I spent a total of about RM100 for those t-shirts, and they have served me well so far. I think they'll last me a year at least (not sure yet - I only purchased them 3-4 months ago), so every year I'll only spend RM100 for t-shirts.

I used to like lululemons for my activewear (golf & yoga), but now I'm just as happy buying off activewear off shopee. They too cost me less than RM20/piece.

So TS, if you're not into brands, maybe this is something you can consider? Honestly people don't give a hoot about what brand you wear, took me a while to realise this. All my new stuff have no brand markings and it's not like anyone notices.

As for boxers/underwear, I buy H&M's Xtra Life short trunks. I find them pretty comfortable (made with cotton+lycra), and as the name suggests they last very long. H&M is on Shopee so I usually buy only when there's a sale.

i notice that nike, under armor sport wear, shirt pant shoes , t-shirt from polo raulp laure , tommy h, izod , nautical etc

the quality has drop a lot lol, the fabric doesnt feel the same , like recycle or plastics material blend, even the synthetic sport wear material felt like rubbish

Those oversized style t-shirts have thick cotton to maintain the boxy shape. Can look for those but is a bit pricey. I think Lotus also got sell local brand oversized tee.
