Simple to solve.

Ask the 40+ DAP MPs to demand Madani govt honour their long-standing promise to non-Malay voters that the govt will fully fund all national-type school.

Then no need Tiger or any other alcohol or cigarette company to sponsor these schools.

This Zawawi also another kind, why go and interfere SJKC matter, it is not fully subsidize by government and yet u want government impose restriction on it?

Go look at SK and SJKC building and hardware and u will know the vast difference, wait for government allocation is so damn leceh and time consuming

QUOTE(9m2w @ Jul 23 2024, 08:49 AM)
Actually good question. This is tiger and I believe have been organising fund raising for schools for a long time. Carslberg also have separate events.

I think they hold the fund raising events and collection from said events are donated which I think circumvents potential sticky points.

But their wares shouldn't be marketed. This event was held in school compound or at outside venue for the adults?
*
All the while ada promote, including the mock cheque, even appear in chinese newspaper.

Last time they have a national tour, stating which school need XXX amount of funding, one year they can gather about RM30-50mil to build new school building/facilities.

Religious kuda only good for non constructive shit stirring in our society.
That's why if they ever come into power on their own, the country will be ruined with no u turn.

When they are at power during 2020-2022, diam diam pulak. Sin tax contribute billions to the government, that time see non bising bising and what is their reaction.

QUOTE(LegendLee @ Jul 23 2024, 09:48 AM)
Just from the title, I assumed it was tiger biscuit lol.

To be honest, I don’t think alcohol companies should be sponsoring primary school events.

Donations is alright, but no logo must be shown.

Nothing to do with religion, but kids are not supposed to have alcohol.
*
U don't put logo, siapa mau sponsor, in this world have to give and take lah.

Yes . Same like potong kaki drinks like soft drinks . Kid always like sweet stuff , better control those stuff than worry about them getting mabuk . Beer got the pahit taste , u give them also they wont drink la .
*
Much agree, me too never liked beer since young coz it's bitter. Prefer wine sweetened or cognac which is a distilled wine.

Only malays dunno coz they never drink so they thought beer is damn nice lol.

On a side note, beer in other countries is damn cheap, cheaper than mineral water

The one that trigger this issue is PAS Selangor, condemn the deputy minister KPKT Aiman Athirah Sabu for attending SJKC fundraising dinner with Tiger logo.

I can tell u what, PAS continue to do this will not win non votes, u keep interfere our business for what, i saw some people here blame PMX for nothing, most likely this issue will sweep away lah, unless government fully fund SJKC and impose restriction on it lah.

Deputy education minister slams PAS for ‘distorting’ Tiger fundraiser

PETALING JAYA: Deputy education minister Wong Kah Woh has accused PAS of “distorting the facts” concerning a fundraiser for vernacular schools organised by Tiger Beer, which was also attended by Amanah’s Aiman Athirah Sabu.

Wong claimed PAS’s aim was to cause a stir among the Malay community for its own political gain, adding that this could disrupt the nation’s peace and harmony.

He pointed out that Tiger, which is owned by Heineken Malaysia Bhd, had hosted these fundraisers for Chinese vernacular schools for 30 years and reduced Putrajaya’s financial burden while enabling the schools to upgrade their infrastructure.

“Over the years, the total funds raised (by Tiger) have exceeded RM400 million,” he said in a Facebook post.

Last Friday, Selangor PAS Youth chief Sukri Omar said it was “embarrassing” that Aiman, the deputy housing and local government minister, received a mock cheque for RM3 million bearing the company’s logo at the fundraiser for SJK© Tche Min in Sungai Pelek.
Sukri said the school’s initiative to raise funds for the construction of a hall was praiseworthy but claimed it was tarnished by Tiger’s participation, and that it was akin to “normalising” alcohol in schools.

Aiman, who is also the Sepang MP and Wanita Amanah chief, later said she was not informed about the contributors until she arrived at the fundraiser.

A police report was also lodged against two Facebook users for allegedly defaming Aiman through a picture featuring her face next to a can of beer, with Amanah’s logo superimposed on it.

Wong, of DAP, said the “attacks” on Aiman were despicable and that the government will continue to work with the private sector and NGOs to support the education sector.

“In this regard, we also thank all private entities that have given their support to the education sector, like the Tiger Chinese Education Charity Concert, which has been helping to improve these schools’ infrastructure over the years, allowing them to flourish,” he said.

I seriously fail to see the issue here.

During the 90s when I was still in primary school, alcohol ads were still allowed in various media but it didn't make me consume them also laugh.gif

i dont see there is a problem, because even you dont put tiger as ads in school, u go out from school go in kopitiam ppl still use tiger as sunshade/banner/ads board.

ur kid still gonna ask you what is that, and you still have to explain to them what is that.

and for nons, pretty sure each houses also got few bottle of alcohol doesnt matter for cooking, drinking, or those for health consume alcohol

There is a MOE circular against such advertising in schools.

No where on earth are cigarettes, gambling or alcohol advertising allowed in schools.

Such advertising is also not allowed on TV or any of the main stream media in Malaysia.

The main problem with this issue is that the school decided to hold the fund-raising event in the school itself.

They should have held the event outside the schools then no one will complain.

Another problem with this issue is the lame denial from the Amanah MP initially and then she was forced to backtrack when photos of her double thumbs up on top and below the large Tiger logo became viral.
