Not really. iPhones should charge even with the most basic USB charge cables & dumbest chargers. I think his friend's charger is playing is safe and refusing to charge because it couldn't determine the cable type. It happens with my Baseus 100W PD when used with a dumb charge only cable.

I tested what I had on my table.

Remax USB-USBC Charge Cable is a dumb cable. Just GND & Voltage wires, no CC.
Jisulife Fan USBC2 Cable is USB2 cable. CC is wired. I couldn't find a more basic C-C charge cable.

✅ Lemax Extension USB -> Remax USB-USBC Charge Cable -> ip16pm
✅ Xiaomi 67W USB -> Remax USB-USBC Charge only Cable -> ip16pm
❌ Baseus 100W 4-port USB -> Remax USB-USBC Charge only Cable -> ip16pm
✅ Lemax Extension USBC -> Jisulife Fan USBC2 Cable (CC) -> ip16pm
✅ Baseus 100W 4-port USBC -> Jisulife Fan USBC2 Cable (CC) -> ip16pm
✅ Apple 20W USBC -> Jisulife Fan USBC2 Cable (CC) -> ip16pm

Lemax Extension is a 4-gang UK extension with 2 USB & 1 USBC (BC1.2 & Apple.)
Xiaomi 67W came with the Poco F5. (PD & QC)
Baseus 100W 4-port is 2 USB + 2 USBC (PD, QC, Samsung & Huawei.)
Apple 20W is Apple (PD 20W)
*in brackets is/are what the tester detected
*all chargers have BC1.2 (USB Basic Charging)
*
Although all are usb-c cables, I also encounter usb-c cables that totally not charging the iPhone also.

personally using yoobao powerbank. quite good. reliable and fast charging.
the below one i am using is small in size although weight wise is not super light weight but decently light enough to carry.

also very cheap. can get it at cheap price during promo period or with shopee vouchers. I got additional one recently at rm38++

For 10000mah it's cheap plus it's yoobao, pocket friendly, but no magnetic charging feature, overall still a good powerbank, will be on my wishlist

yes CP value is very high... and look at the no of units sold, it is certainly a popular choice among ppl.

sorry to say that , titanium and stainless generally are stronger than aluminum , the only benefit from aluminium is light weight , that the reason why u see nowadays a lot of kitchen cabinet , auto-gate slowly move from stainless to aluminum because of it light weight.
unless u going naked , otherwise just put your phone with a good case then wont be too much of worry.
*
but titanium still feels the best for sure and also the look becos of the matte finishing. 🤪

noted , well in my case i bought a iphone 16 pro max black titanium then suddenly realised natural titanium seems more attractive since my wife iphone 16 pro natural titanium bought at the same time as my black titanium ..
then managed to sell back my iphone 16 pro max black titanium and bought iphone 16 pro max natural titanium
*
Natural titanium looks nice indeed. tongue.gif

At official sc right, i guess worth it since the battery authentic and will last long, rather then send to unauthorized sc cheaper but you will get oem battery 😅
*
battery better dun play play. it can create danger.

change at apple store or authorised dealer will be the safest even it is more ex.

Noted, i would replace my 16pm battery if the battery health already hit 78% - 80%
If below 70% im afraid the performance not that good 🙂🔥
*
somehow when ur battery drop below 80%, the battery capacity indicated on iphone is not really trustworthy i would say.

my iphone 14 pro max, after 1 year, it drops below 80%. I used to play a lot of mobile games so the battery degrade faster. I got this phone on the 1st day of the launch of iphone 14 pro max in lion city.

iphone 17 pro max is coming up it means i had used my phone for almost full 3 years soon.

the maximum capacity ever since dropped below 80%, the battery change from 78% to 73% now. But my battery life is significantly low for day to day usage.

so either i change the battery of the phone which is quite ex now. or i need to upgrade my phone to 17 series. cool2.gif

Just upgrade, from 14 definitely worth upgrade to 17 😅
*
also have the same thought, this is the reason why until now i have not changed the battery yet.
wanted to see how thje 17 series will be like this year and see if it is worthy to upgrade.

besides, just a side question, anyone know if u do not reset ur phone to factory settings and just simply send ur phone to replace battery at apple store or authorised reseller, is it safe? can they see your data inside the phone?

Then, I'm not sure anymore. I changed mine at Switch, it is mandatory to reset my phone and they even wanted me to remove the casing and screen protector.
*
ic. maybe apple store and authorised dealer the way they service also maybe a bit difference.

personally i would prefer to go to apple store to do becos less nonsense. i did go to authorised dealer before .

undecided to upgrade from 14pm to 16pm or 17pm or even Air 17
*
i am going air. tongue.gif

and it is not called Air 17 but just simply Air.
(i suspect next year may not have air anymore, maybe they will replace with flip-screen?)
else it does not make sense why they did not call it 17 Air.

28.09.24-23.09.25 and still managed to retain 100% battery health. None of my previous iPhones were as good as it.

Haha. Since u are changing iPhone every year. Preserving the battery capacity is actually lugi. not fully utilised it before u sold it away. 🤪

Traded-in back to Apple, RM 3.5k.
*
urs is 16 PM rite?

RM3500/RM5,999 = 41.66% loss in 1 year of usage (light usage, below average usage since battery capacity is still 100%).

considered quite a deep loss if consider an iphone can be used average of 5 years, each year depreciate around 20% is considered reasonable range.

Yes, 16PM.
Well, I don't think too much about it, after all buying a phone is already a liability. I won't use a phone for 5 years for sure even iPhones are capable. laugh.gif
*
if cost was not a concern, actually no issue. tongue.gif

after all, u have new and latest iphone every year to use. biggrin.gif
