Im currently using a late-2013 Macbook Pro retina i5 and was looking to upgrade this nearly 10 yr old machine.

I was browsing through 2nd hand Macbook Pro and came across (title above) for around RM3.3k and thats the cheapest Apple Product that I've ever seen. Even some base M1s are breaking 3.7 - 4k barriers.

Was wondering if it's a good buy today?

I've heard common complains is
- the fan noise (which I can live with)
- overheating issue, not sure what cause it. (which I can't, with concerns that it may shorten machine's lifespan)

Anyone has experience with these machines, and if so, how do you circumvent the above situations? Thankss!

Intel mac that bad ah..

For those M series, how much RAM is sufficient?
My typical use would be
- Chrome 20-25 tabs
- Multiple windows (minimum 2, typical 4)
- Email machine
- Word processing
- Lightroom edit
- 1080p video edit sometimes.

I borrowed my friend's M1 mac base 8gb mac, it was bit lagging. Idk where am I going wrong here.

8gb is not enough. Minimum 16gb for Lightroom to be less laggy. As long as u fetch the initial previews for Lightroom, u will do okay.

Just get apple silicon. Ditch the intel chip. M chips are powerful. My team have both MacBooks with intel and M1pro/M2max. M1 Pro itself is already way more powerful than intel i7.
