Hi guys, recently I installed a Tsunami Water pump JLM-C400A which is an automatic water pump.

After installation, the water pump turn on itself every 15-20 minutes for a short moment pump and off itself again.

Try to check if water meter is running but water meter has no movement at all. Try to check if any visible leaking but not found any.

Is it normal for the pump to act that way?

Thanks in advanced notworthy.gif

Not supposed to do that.

Close all stop cork and see.

Check for any small leak.

Usually, this means there is a minor leak somewhere in the piping system

My home has a pump as well, but I choose to just switch it off now

The situation with the on/off will usually worsen

seems like leak issue. this happened once at my hometown, fortunately we have pressure gauge, and immediately can see the pressure dropping once the pump stops. managed to find the leak, fix it, and no more frequent pump on/off

If it's recently installed, most likely a leak. From my personal experience, it was from toilet side, 1) bidet left in 'on' position was slowly dripping water 2)flush not adjusted correctly, causing some water to slowly 'leak' into the toilet bowl. You may want to check your shower head as well if it's slowly dripping consistently, will also cause the pump to turn off and on.

There is another issue I had which caused pump to turn on and off which was on the pump side, was some setting or electronics at the pump but that was many years after installation. Had to get plumber to change a part, can't remember what it was but not user-solvable (at least for me).

Maybe the pressure sensor on the pump is faulty.

Thanks for your help,haturaya!

You mean invidual stopcock that supply to bathroom and kitchen?

1. Close all
2. Open one by one
3. Find the ghost pump is cause by which area?

But unfortunately my old house don't have individual stopcock. only certain bathroom have it.

Thanks for your input, laksamana.

My house is rather old and worry some piping might leak as well.

But upon checking, water meter is not running though.

Do you switch it on whenever is needed? I was thinking to only turn on when needed?

Would it spoil the pump if running on/off the switch?

So you would advise me to install a pressure gauge near the water pump? Before or after the water pump ya, I might hire plumber to get it installed.

And any tips to find the leak? Like your case, how you found it eventually?

Yes, it's installed just few days ago.

Thanks for your tips! Would definitely check those areas.

I do have bidet in all toilet and the bidet eventually become harden after I installed pump. Would it be one of the issue that cause ghost pump?

This is something that I worried which my pump has some defect since it's just bought brand new and I am not the expertise to check.

My plumber is helpless. Might need to find someone to check the problem. That's why I seek help before hire another plumber.

lastly, guys, I was thinking to get an Aqara 20A smart switch where I can toggle ON and OFF through my phone and wireless switch that I going to install near my every bathroom and kitchen. Was toggle ON and OFF every time I use would spoil the water pump quickly?

Thanks a lot again guys for your help! It really mean a lot to me

I have installed an on/off switch for the pump, and will turn on only when absolutely necessary

My sense is having an on/off switch (there's even a wireless remote switch that you can get electrician to install) will help preserve the life of the pump

However, 99% of the time I just keep the pump off, as I am worried that the pipes will not be able to withstand constant water pressure and leak / burst, which will cause even BIGGER problems

You will have to ask Tsunami to send in their technician to test and swap out the pressure sensor unit to see if problem goes away.

For me, I had a Grunfos that doesn't switch on. I had the pressure sensor removed and still won't go. So pump was faulty. I took the opportunity to do 2 things simulataneously:

1) Change pump
2) Change to a system that detects flow rather than pressure drop to trigger 'on' the pump.

Such system is better for your household piping as it won't subject it to a constant high pressure.
Look up Crosslink Aquatic on Google, they do such retrofit.

Hi Powergadget,

I bought the same pump and have same problem. Wondering if you figured out a solution or is this normal?

The pump still turn on occasionally so I installed Aqara smart switch 20A which I bought for about rm170 during Sales.

Then I install another wireless rocker in main areas that able to control on and off the water pump.

Else, I would just turn it on/off through my phone.

Currently the pump consume averagely 12kWh per month through the reading of apps.

Try to find for minor leak at connection of pipes which happened to mine when I first used the pump especially bidget and toilet bowl water tank. Mine also have minor leak at tangki in the beginning. After solving those, the pump turn on time cut short by quite a bit but not still turn on suka2 3-4 times in an hour.
