If you bought it in Dec 2006, you should still be covered by warranty. All Apple hardware come with 1 year complimentary warranty.

Take it to the service center and claim, and consider getting AppleCare Protection Plan to extend your warranty for another 2 more years. You still have time to get the ACPP extension.

I have a loose "command key" on my ibook G4 last time, it was still within a year of the warranty, brought it to Apple Store at Ikarno, they told me it was "user defect"; hence, not covered by warrant wtf..

Hopefully yours will turn out to a better end than me. Bring it to them and hear what they say.

The place that sells Macs at Ikano is crap. I would try VR Technology for service.

I also feel that they pay attention to people with AppleCare more...

Just find the nearest Apple store at www.AppleMalaysia.com.my. Any Apple store will do somehow.

An Apple Store is not the same as an Apple Service Center and the Apple Store staff may not be qualified to know what hardware defects are caused by user and which ones are hardware defects which are claimable from AppleCare. Take it to a Service Center if its hardware related.

Wrong. Any Apple Store *will not* do -- refer to my reply on the top of this message. Apple shops do not do service and will be unqualified to make any warranty claim judgements or repairs. They may help you to send it to the service center, that's at most they can do.

This issue is actually common for Macbooks. Apparently the keyboard palm rest area is made of thin plastic, and when the magnetic latch closes, it causes some stress on that area.

You should go fast tongue.gif before your warranty actually runs out. Just to be sure, you can check you warranty status of your Macbook here...

There's only two, VR in KL or Axis in Seksyen 14. There used to be another one in Subang but not sure if they're still in business, last I checked they're not on the service providers list. Personally me and my friends and colleagues have always gone to VR for our services, from warranty claims to upgrading hard disks etc. Excellent service.

Replacements, if they have stock, a day or two, if they don't have ready stock and have to bring it in, 5 days.

Unless its a major replacement program where everyone's scrambling to get theirs replaced i.e., the battery program for Powerbook and iBook G4s last time which were exploding left and right, then that took more than a month but this is a one off thing for a major (and urgent) replacement program.

Should be under warranty cuz i got my LCD changed while my warranty was still valid, this keyboard issue should be smaller issue than the LCD gua..

if after your warranty expired also its possible to get it replaced. i did that at machines mid valley. took about 5 business days to get the part from singapore. once they got the part, it only took less than 2 hours to fix.
