Anyone here own a toyota land cruiser zx300 2023 diesel ? I dont need the opinion on how expensive is the diesel price. What the salesman explained to me is the diesel engine are more lasting and reliable than the petrol . Looking forward for my long journey to bangkok.

Yes diesel engines are more reliably built and last longer. It’s also more fuel efficient. However if you plan to use diesel across the continent or to Europe do mind that some places hard to get diesel. Diesel also tend to succumb to gelling under cold weather.

if you high speed all the time... petrol better

diesel is not free revving... need slightly different style

diesel vs petrol reliability is not really an issue... diesel may be better but you don't see petrol engine fail everywhere right?... imho not a big deal

lc is a toyota icon... lemon car aside... wont put crappy engine in it.. if you have long trip... better buy early to give you time to work out any kinks...

Diesel engine generally will last longer compare to petrol engine, few reasons - Diesel itself got lubricity, 2nd lesser components to worry compare to similar modern petrol turbo engine, 3rd diesel engine torque is faster and higher to reach at low RPM making it a good highway cruiser, easy pick up on both on-off road condition. For big size vehicle like SUV, diesel is more practical as the high torque will help move the heavy chassis easily at low RPM compare petrol counterparts. When you can move/drive at low RPM most of the time = save fuel = less wear = long lasting.

I dont own LC 300 diesel,

I do own bunch of diesel vehicles (Q7, Starex and a pickup), yes it's relatively more reliable and lower fc than petrol cars, but to be honest, comparing current diesel price (floating) with subsidize petrol price the saving (in term monetary) is not that significant.

To me diesel do have other advantages, they tend to have longer range per full tank (my Q7 can go around 1,100km per 85l tank) good for long range rural driving. Not sure with other owner, but all my diesel cars a/c definitely colder than my petrol cars haha

from my personal exp, diesel are more suitable high speed consistent driving compared to stop n go city driving (not to mention diesel cars tend to be heavier).

I also noticed majority of diesel owner that have injectors issue due combination of low quality diesel and a lot off idling stop n go driving.

I used to own LX470 Petrol, that car have terrible fc and not suitable for long range driving, even with dual tank (95L) + (30ish L) don't expect to reach 700km.
