Very much a "teaser", you get glimpses of real on-track drivers and fans. I think the full trailer will pack a lot more.

Let's get the bad things out, this is a very by the number movie. You literally can anticipate what happens next. If you are F1 kaki, you will get a blast watching this as it pits the fictional team against the real world team. Yeah here and there you'll get Hamilton and Verstappen ugly mug in the scenes. It's Initial D storyline but on F1. You can't deny the epic filmmaking and the excitement of races. Masterpiece....err nope!

Watched it last night

- Hans zimmer soundtrack sounds like it was recycled from Motorsport manager
- Our Imax cinema is not capable of showing the "Imaxness" of the movie. Better watch on normal cinema.
- You need to turn off your brain to understand the movie, because the logic and story is all over the place.
- The only good thing about this movie is Brad Pitt... and that's it.

I barely able to keep myself awake after one hour, and the movie is too long at 2.5 hours.

Watch it if you're a Brad Pitt fan. If you're a motorsport fan... meh.

Yeah. I went to KLCC IMAX, which is not actually very large, and it doesn't feel much different than any other hall. Also I think it actually need a very large hall for the sound mixing to come through. Ini bunyi kuat pung pang pung pang but you don't really feel it surrounds you. So yeah, IMAX experience was underwhelming like the movie itself.

Watch at ScreenX TRX. The driving scene make full use of the sidescreen.

I dont know if it intentional but we get the infamous
'we are checking' scene and it make me laugh.

The movie is good not great but definitely better than some of the real race we get this year.

The movie is an ads to f1 just like DTS. F1 hardcore fans despise it but it brings more casual fan to f1 just like this movie intended to do.

It also a pitch from apple to get live stream broadcast of F1 just like it did with MLS.

Cruise already developing Days of Thunder 2. If F1 making bank, this could be a possibility. Just hope Cruise can strong arm to let Steve McQueen to helm the script. F1 clearly shows Joseph Kosinski still sucks at storytelling. Maybe they can recapture the success of Top Gun Maverick.

My spoiler-free honest review. smile.gif

One of the best films I have seen this year. cool2.gif

I watched it twice in IMAX. I had plans to catch it in 4DX too, but that never happened. Still there is absolutely nothing like watching it in IMAX. I am not usually a fan of going to big cinemas, but this was a clear exception (I was refreshing the TGV IMAX page daily 2 weeks prior to see when booking began!).

The amount of work that went into creating a "live-in" Formula 1 experience blended with a Hollywood style story is astonishing.

The racing sequences are on a level of their own. I cannot think of another open-wheel racing film that comes close. What makes it even more impressive is how much of it draws directly from real-life F1 moments. The opening crash is a clear nod to Martin Donnelly’s devastating accident during the 1990 Spanish GP. The Monza race in the rain mirrors the kind of tension we have seen in wet Italian races, especially with risky slick tire strategy. Even the late-race overtake is almost a shot-for-shot recreation of Lewis Hamilton’s pass during the 2023 Mexico Grand Prix.

The "main" subplot involving race manipulation, reminded me of infamous real-world events like Crashgate (internally I was screaming this out loud haha..). In the film, one car is deliberately put at risk to benefit another. In real F1, this would never go unpunished. No team could get away with that without severe consequences. The FIA takes sporting integrity seriously. Such actions would trigger regulatory investigations, loss of points, fines, suspensions etc.. It stretches believability, but it makes for high-stakes storytelling. I feel newcomers to the sport may think this is allowable in an actual race.

As for the acting side, Kerry Condon was the star of the film in my opinion. She brought emotional weight and realism to her role. The CGI is so well blended that I barely noticed it. I had been somewhat following fan/track production footage since 2023, so seeing it all on the big screen was surreal. The tension in key moments, the pulse-pounding score, and the attention to F1 detail made me feel like a kid in a candy store.

I had serious doubts they could pull this off. But Joe Kosinski did it. They absolutely nailed it. At just over two and a half hours, the pacing was tight and engaging from start to finish, didn't feel lengthy.

Was it perfect? No, not at all. blush.gif The romantic subplot sometimes felt a little out of place, although Kerry Condon handled it gracefully. The ending with what Sonny does "afterwards" could have been more impactful. By the way, thinking back I guess I knew the outcome based on fan footage that filmed the podium celebration (ouch) sweat.gif

Even so, this is the most grounded and authentic F1 film I have ever seen. The use of real tracks, integration of actual race events, and involvement of F1 teams and personnel give it a level of realism no other racing film has achieved. Massive credit to the filmmakers and to the FIA for granting such unprecedented access.

This is a solid 9/10 for me. It is not flawless but for F1 fans, this is something truly special. It might just be the closest you can get to feeling the thrill of F1 without actually being in the cockpit. If you are going to watch it, do it on the biggest screen possible. Nothing else will do it justice.

Quite possibly one of the best films to watch on IMAX (it was filmed using IMAX cameras too). I can only speak for the seating at IMAX 1U, but this may apply to other IMAX cinemas as well. Sitting in the 3rd or 4th row from the back, right in the middle, seems to be the absolute best spot.

How is the experience in watching this in 4dx? I just watched this over the weekend in IMAX velocity and i got to say it is one of the best experience and i am seated in the middle 4th row from the cinema. To my thinking, i feel it is a bit near to the screen and i would say the 6th or 7th row would be much preferable. I am glued to my seat throughout the 2 hours and 30 minutes of the film as i really enjoyed each of the racing scene. I feel the adrenaline during the rev of the engine and the car crash omg! Planned to go for my second viewing and is 4dx the better experience ? Ps : Never really like anyone kicking my seat during movie time so not too sure if going for 4dx is better choice 🤣

i like your review bro!
being a F1 fan myself many years ago, i find the technicalities were pretty well captured in the movie. my companions with me for the movie also commented he felt the movie was an overarching F1 advertisement which rocks! while the lady who never follow F1 in her life also finds it engaging.
of course, f1 being f1 has so many rules which they didn't explain every single one. but many of the more intriguing rules were pretty well explained. team strategies were also brilliantly captured (i.e. 1,2 stops, slick, hard, soft tyres, etc).
only grouse was to solidify sonny hayes as a god-like figure making the whole team feels pretty useless which isn't the case as each person was meant to be like the absolute best in their field.
for racing film, driven starring slyvester stallone is also very endearing to me personally. while driven focuses on action, f1 is more balanced.
i also quite enjoyed sony's GTA movie too.
in terms of actions, i can safely say that f1 delivers more adrenaline than jurassic rebirth (which i caught yesterday).
