This house was transferred to me recently by a relative, so I actually have no idea about the previous maintenance and reno.
The house is undergoing renovation at the moment, contractor told me I have to inform TM about fiber cable (pulled from outside) that my contractors are about to remove. So I called TM, told them the previous house owner migrated and subscription was terminated months ago. TM said I can just leave the wire hanging (like how? Just wrap the exposed bit with black tape or how).
Contractor said they can leave the wiring and trunking untouched, but said it's better that I register a new line with existing wiring, his reasoning is that any terminated line would have their fiber port removed later which is hard to get back in the future.
Is what my contractor (red font) said true?
I have been using wireless for so long (streamyx > p1 wimax > 4g routers > 5g routers) so I have no idea how fiber internet works......

TM cable if visible if any problem come and fixed they don't charge you, if you conseal/hide they don't take any responsible that what i remember The port part i guess is true last time often heard many user can't get unifi because not enough port highrise/landed by no choice still using streamyx I'm landed never experienced out of port issues opt in unifi since day 1 , not sure for late comer . Example Last time my wife shop renovation i also hanging like this only the black cable and box drag and rolled and hanging somewhere safe without kacau renovation guy since my cables is visible no conceal/hiding from day 1 even after renovated also hanging like this only 😂 This post has been edited by zuozi: Jun 30 2024, 05:59 PM

As for the other house (topic), the wiring is above the ceiling and the rest inside trunking. Contractor said when they remove plaster board bit by bit, the wiring were actually nailed to the board so they might have to pull it out from the outside. I suggested that they put the wire inside a junction box and nail the box outside in case the need to reinstall back in the future. I intend to rent out the house, so maintaining an active TM subscription might be a plus for tenants. My other props are all commercial type so don't have internet and stuff like these.
