It sounds like you found the MRT experience a bit slow compared to taking a taxi, especially for shorter distances.


Taxis do tend to be faster because they don't make multiple stops like the MRT does.

MRTs are designed for convenience across a network of stations, which can sometimes add to the travel time.




Compare your situation in KL.


Do you prefer taxis, monorail, LRT, MRT or KTM Komuter in Selangor state?

It has always been around 1 hour from north to south even when the MRT in Singapore was new. Stations and stops will add up taking more time compared to driving. Same thing happens in Malaysia.

If majority of the JB citizens already working in Singapore, and Sultan and Singapore and the JB residents are all agreeable to have special laws which Singapore enforcement can control the JB citizens as far as various local civil and criminal laws are concerned. Essentially JB laws will be more similar to Singapore than Malaysia due to this special "status". Just like HK and PRC mainland have different laws, while still belonging to PRC. JB citizens who commit crime in Singapore will still be easily arrested by Singapore in JB. To escape, they have to go through immigration at JB border to enter Malaysia.

Of course many parties will object. But certain situations may arise that they find it acceptable, if JB become way more richer than Malaysia and is no longer really "Malaysia" since most of them spend their time in Singapore anyway.

Should take Thomson line. Much faster.

Distance-wise, it is not too far. 26km+ from Kranji to Sentosa, maybe due to slower speed? In KL, I take MRT Kajang 1st station to Mutiara Damansara, also 1 hour sharp, with further distance. Been years with MRT/LRT, never take Komuter since years ago. Drive, will stuck until no tomorrow at Cheras Grand Saga.

Kajang MRT peak hour frequency is 5 minutes, which is worse than its design capacity. Before Covid they could do like 3 minutes frequency. Kajang line is packed to the brim during peak hours due to this.

During morning peak hours, using monorail/LRT/MRT ensures you won't be late for work.

10-12 years ago, if dont want to stuck in traffic, need to go out at 630am as opposed 7am (jem kaw2). Nowadays due to many more user, even 620-630am also got stuck in Grand Saga Cheras highway.

My trip nowadays, 715-719am at Kajang MRT 1st station, usually arrived at Megan Avenue via Ampang Park at 830am, then meet office colleague at mamak nearby for breakfast until 9am

KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that all public transport services under RapidKL will be free for one month starting immediately.



He said the move was to help alleviate the cost of living increases Malaysians were currently facing.


"In conjunction with the official opening of the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase One, I am pleased to announce the provision of free services for all public transport under the operation of RapidKL,

namely MRT, LRT, BRT, Monorail and RapidKL buses



for one month starting today,” he said here today.



In a press conference later, Ismail also announced that the Klang Valley KTM Komuter service will also be free for a month starting today.


"With all these subsidies we provided ***** RM 155 million ***** in all to give these free services. I hope this will help the people,” he said

Phase 1 of the MRT Putrajaya line will begin operating at 3pm today, spanning 17.5km in the north of Klang Valley.

The 12 stations that will open are


Kwasa Damansara,
Kampung Selamat,
Sungai Buloh,

Damansara Damai,
Sri Damansara Barat,
Sri Damansara Sentral,
Sri Damansara Timur,



Metro Prima,
Kepong Baru,
Jinjang,
Sri Delima and
Kampung Batu.

Phase 2, from Kampung Batu to Putrajaya, will begin operations next January.

Our eighth MRT line, the Cross Island Line (CRL) will be our longest fully underground line at more than 50 kilometres long. It will serve existing and future developments in the eastern, western, and north-eastern corridors, connecting major hubs such as Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District and Changi region.

When operational, it will have eight (8) interchange stations. This means more alternative travel routes to get to your destination.

Constructed in three phases, the 29-kilometre long Phase 1 of the CRL (CRL1) will comprise twelve (12) stations from Aviation Park to Bright Hill. This will serve residential and industrial areas such as Loyang, Tampines, Pasir Ris, Defu, Hougang, Serangoon North and Ang Mo Kio. More than 100,000 households will benefit from CRL1, and common recreational spaces such as Changi Beach Park and Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park will also become accessible by public transport. Construction for CRL1 has commenced and is targeted to be completed by 2030.

Phase 2 of the CRL (CRL2) is approximately 15 kilometres and comprises six (6) underground stations – Turf City, King Albert Park, Maju, Clementi, West Coast and Jurong Lake District. The Environmental Impact Study for CRL2 have been completed and the reports are available for public feedback.

The 7.3-kilometre CRL – Punggol Extension will provide a direct link for commuters travelling between eastern areas such as Pasir Ris and Tampines North, and north-eastern areas such as Punggol and Sengkang.

Construction for CRL – Punggol Extension has commenced and is targeted to be completed by 2032.

Acting Minister for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance Jeffrey Siow has announced that Tengah and Brickland will have a total of eight new bus services within the next 18 months.

Speaking to media on Sunday (June 8), Siow stated that two of these bus routes will be in service by the end of this year.

Dr Choo Pei Ling, MP for Chua Chu Kang GRC, announced that bus service 872 will begin operating from Tengah Bus Interchange from Aug 10.


It will provide a direct link for Tengah residents to Chinese Garden MRT station while passing through areas in Bukit Batok, Plantation Crescent and Jurong East.

"We hope that residents like this National Day present from us," she said.

The second bus service, which is still in the works, will begin at Brickland and pass through two MRT stations, according to Siow, who added that further details will be released closer to the end of this year.

He also stated that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will introduce two more express bus services in Tengah by the end of next year.

Both routes will start at the Brickland area, with one going towards the city and the other to one-north.


"These are designed to bring residents to their employment centres, to their jobs earlier, faster, more efficiently," he explained.

Improving public transport options for new towns


He added that 4 express feeder buses will also begin operating in the estate by the end of next year
