Hi all sifus,

My nephew barely passed his SPM with 2 credits.
Based on the website information, public universities accept students with minimum 3 credits to 5 credits.
While he doesn't excelled academically, we don't think he cut out for vocational courses either.
Anyone know if public universities allow exemption and accepts students who are below the requirements?
He quite keen on teaching so perhaps maktab perguruan or maybe kindergarden teacher assistant?
Financially it's tough for the family to go for private universities so we are trying to find the best option for him.

Thanks for your advice and bless you all.

Genuine question, what is the race?

If bumi then plenty of opportunities

If not, then perhaps can try private but not expensive like taruc?

Pretty difficult to find any institution able to accept 2 SPM credits as entry point. I’d suggest he retakes SPM again and aim to do better. With at least 5 credits, many more doors are opened for him.

If he can't even get 5 credits now it's going to be tough to pass university. Like some mentioned extend spm, redo and try again.. really still can't better find something to do.. even a gig job like riders eventually he will make it.. if his hardworking that is.

The min requirement for Uni entry is to stop lowly qualified personal to pursue, and that is where your nephew is in now.
If ask for Tongkat way ---> go that way
If he is serious about teaching someone with this qualification, it would simply be a joke. BUt yes, he could retake SPM to get higher qulification.
Ask him dont malu, learning is important. learn how to tongkat your way up? jgnlah ask here

There is a lot of TVET that is offering Diploma Pendidikan Awal Kanak-Kanak. Perhaps can go that route?

Please consider getting your nephew to retake the SPM. 2 credits and he wants to be a teacher. What kind of education do you think he'll end up imparting to the younger generation?

If you want a nation to grow, you have to get good quality and highly qualified educators to nurture the future generation, not dumb them down with someone who barely could manage 2 credits on his own.

Under such life constraints, retake SPM is the only option - straight forward option.

My honest 2 cents:

1. Please dissuade him from teaching course if he is not SERIOUS. We need quality, qualified and committed teachers.

2. If he is serious, take up a pre-U in field he is interested (ie: Sciences, Arts, Humanities, Commerce) > Undergraduate in same field > teaching diploma > teaching licence from MoE > Teacher

3. Chances are, he can still enter civil service with the above route.

4. Timeline: pre-U 1 year, Degree 3-4 years, Teaching Diploma 6 mths to 1 year

5. Cost: ballpark figure: fully loaded around MYR50k-100k depending on field of study in local private (has ruled up government univ as he is not qualified for even matric, pre-asasi or diploma if he is non)

Disclaimer: All this work if there's money and his willpower. Else refer to 1), please, for the love of himself and others, do something else.

Hi, don’t mean to hijack this tread but I hope Others who reads this can help.

I’m about to enrol with pennsula college. They offer MBA from university gloucest(UK) due to my working experience. Can skip degree.
Course work fully and I can do it part time.

I’m working and it’s hard for me to commit for classes and this can be done online which is perfect for me. Plus in my field particularly i need the uK certs instead.

Search in Mqa website the course is certified but just to check with this mba cert can I apply phd in other local unis in the future?
Or I need still to do APEL?
I ask few in study fair, some don’t understand.
Previously I have diploma only.

No degree, no master, no phd.

There's no way you can skip degree to MBA.

I just checked. It seems that you will need at least a cgpa of 2.5 for degree or APEL 7 to enroll for the program.

No info provided for your field of study & work - then say your field need UK cert. What is your background, what was your diploma? How many years of working experience and why you need an MBA for your work?

University of Gloucest, macam x masuk akal the name.

Nama Pennsula College pun x masuk akal.

Went to the link you gave :-

Name of Qualification : Master of Business Administration in collaboration with University of Gloucestershire
Name of Institution : Peninsula College Shah Alam

More like sicklad77 mangled the name of his college and the university issuing the MBA, as can be seen from the link provided:-

Name of Qualification : Master of Business Administration in collaboration with University of Gloucestershire
Name of Institution : Peninsula College Shah Alam

Anyways, I wish TS all the best as he seemed to have lost interest in this topic even though his last login was this morning.

Not surprised. Most would ask questions to justify their decision. It is hard to accept critical comments from others. I have seen quite a number of them. Ask a question >> gets a negative response with follow up questions >> MIA

But our follow up questions weren’t even critical in nature… I mean, I feel it’s a valid concern as to why a college would accept someone with a low GPA as a candidate…. Already puts the value of the degree in question…

something that have always puzzles me

i have asked a lot of students who don't excel academically but yet, they want to be teachers

rclxub.gif

what the heck?

what are they looking for in life?

if they don't like to read/study in the first place, how would they gain and impart knowledge to others?

Teacher is treated as the lowest grade profession in malaysia, which pretty much sums up what our education level is.

With such a result, don’t think retaking will improve it. Best option is to do apprenticeship in technical jobs ie auto mechanics, bakery etc. To aim to be a teacher with such a results just indicate your nephew thought teaching/ teaching assistant a cushiony jobs. Hard to employ a male teacher assistant, majority is meant for female. You need to clean up those kids in the toilets, not fetching color pencils.
