Gold standard but some STPM 4 pointers still fails to get into critical courses, excuses given were fail interviews or cocurricular not up to standard, which is subjective with no objective standard.
In china, as long as you get certain points in exam, you get to go into certain universities, bar some very limited cases of admission with world class achievements.

Msian IPTAs can do its nonsense for admission, no one takes them seriously anyway. Non-bumis will go to IPTAs because of financial considerations, those who do well there, will try to go abroad for masters and beyond.
