The stores already list the lowest end configuration as 4199. The next model up is a whopping 4999. But let's say you go cheap, relatively speaking, and get the 4199 dollar model for your son, expect a verbal exchange that goes like this.

Your boy: Daddy daddy, how cum my MacBook wun burn DVD wan?
You: You wait here har, boy... Let me speed dial uncle Steve for you.

They should use ATI or nVidia. Can't use it for light gaming.

The MacBook line is obviously the entry models for laptops, just like other cheap windows-based laptop. If you want graphics card, then you got to get the Macbook Pro.

MacBook Pro also isn't that impressive when it comes to graphic card selections. Only 8600 GT, same as Dell 15 incher. Was hoping for something more powerful and with higher screen resolution.

i was hoping for a new design of MB, but unfortunately they only upgrade the processor and IGP along with some other minor upgrade.

Was really hoping for a new design with weight less than 2kg! guess just have to buy the macbook now and wait for the new redesign MB sometime in 2008. sigh
