I usually look at QS Ranking based on
1. Employer Reputation,
2. Academic Reputation, and last
3. Employment Outcome.

UM
ER = 95.1%
AR = 82.9%
E0 = 69.3%

ringgit can be expected to appreciate to SGD1.00-RM2.50 in the future with its highly-skilled and sought after graduates.

The ascent of UM started during Jibby times with the Education Roadmap 2013-2023 and the Higher Education Roapmap 2015-2025 which was retained by all governments post GE14.

Before Jibby came in, Malaysia universities were in free-fall until UM dropped to 256th in the world and improved almost every year in the QS ranking to as high as 59th best in the world in 2021 before falling a bit in 2022 and 2023 and now recovering to 60th best.

And this is QS's own chart for UM.

Not only did UM improve but ALL other Universities had improved since Jibby times.

Delusion is real rather data driven

Jibby 10 years improved rank from 180 to 114 (36%)

Change of government improved rank from 114 to 59 (48%) within 3 years.

And yeah ...... Ranking 180 is lower hanging fruit when comparing when one is 114

Time to convert those IPTA that ranked >500 n above to TVET. No point churning out leeches who r not employable.
