city mid is very dynamic. they started with 3 no10. cherki, benardo and foden constantly rotating and moving. they also seems more direct in forwad passes while being very compact in mid. can see lijnders influence in their gameplay.

when mc s attacking they hv so
much space in and outside the box. and when we hv the ball we just pass the ball among the defenders and wait for their players and then pass around cluelessly outside the box. great tactic slot. at least u hv one shot on target

Welpppp I know its city but we looked like were back where we started, clueless, ineffective, easy to play against, cant score shit

Perhaps if VVD score were allowed maybe the game could be different but we had all 90 mins and could even register a shot on target until the 75th minutes

We've been bad all season long and it will continue if Slott dont sort this shit out

Arne going back to play arne ball. If klopp we will go pressing from the start. Arne ball is keep recyling till u lost the ball , i zaw other team play at least will take the chance to cross of shot from outside.. we pass sideway and wait till all their def in position only lose the possession .. coward play by Arne..

In PL our "scoring every game" record seem ended miserably (I think)

Well seems like a great decision to sleep. Could've been much worse if Haaland had scored his penalty early.

Not sure why everyone is saying Robbo/VVD decision is wrong. From replay he was offside and he ducked to let the ball pass. Doesn't matter if the goalie was gonna get there or not. If the ball had touched him it might not have gone in, and if it had gone in he would've been offside. So he was interfering with play.

I might be wrong here since I am looking only on replay.
But I think we gave too much space to their attackers with no one closing down. It's like daring them to cross/shoot. No one tried to stop the cross coming in for first goal, and no one pressured the ball for 2nd goal. Who is our defence coach FFS.

On this form we will be losing all our away matches this season. Damn.

Wa, just look at the table, city and arse just 4 points off and they still need to visit Etihad. We have a tight title race this season, should be interesting.

But topkek we at no 8, cb. Below new boys Sunderland some more laugh.gif

Reality checked.

There are still so many tactical issues to be addressed, it's gona be a long season. Back to basic, take 1 game at a time, every game is a final.

We should just take this as a transition season to slowly integrate all the players and let them carry out what slot wants.

Poor Bradley. Having to cover the defensive right side by himself in the 2nd half against Doku. Some complain Konate should have supported Bradley, but Konate was marking Haaland. If Grav goes out of position to cover then Man City will play through the middle.

On the left, Wirtz and Robertson held the line.

Man City identified the right-side weakness and push Liverpool back by pressing the right side - in the 2nd half.

Salah either low confidence or genuinely declining. His timing off. His decision making off. Can't outrun his marker even when the team plays his favoured direct long balls.

Liverpool don't counter press. Normal pressing unable to cope with Man City's smooth passing. So rarely win back the ball out of possession. What made Klopp difficult for Guardiola was the pressing. Now all gone.

Same old tactical problems again.

Did like Wirtz's footwork in the first half. Clearly, he is much more suited in Man City. Still feel Slot needs to drill into his sometimes-stubborn team, the future is Wirtz if he truly wants to copy Guardiola. Get the team to stop looking for the magic pass to Salah and support Wirtz. If not do the opposite, drill into the new signing, they need to play like the rest of the team - Wirtz stop dribbling the ball into dead zones.

Yet more moaning from Slot, that the header should have counted as it COULD have changed the game. Anyone watching the game could see yes, Liverpool did have moments, but Man City was always in control.

i know its water under the bridge, and i'm not trying to agitate you guys. merely football discussion but..

should that be a penalty? it was pretty soft to me watching the highlights. for me also, the fact that its soft, doku did try to shoot and stuck his other foot himself and then so many attempts after.

thats really soft.

All the 3 goals conceded are directly from bad defending and giving opponent sweet time to shoot/pass.
1st goal.. nobody marking from the cross
2nd goal, no one close down for the shoot
3rd goal, pure class, but still, nobody tried to close him down for the shooting. He was on steroid last night anyway.

exactly, advantage for continue to play been given, why still give them a penalty...
VVD's goal should have stood, Andy didn't block the goalkeeper's line of vision...
Gakpo missed a glorious opportunity sending the ball into row Z with his first attempt...
Salah missed a 1 on 1 opportunity against Donna placing the ball wide...

Konate failed to intercept the 1st n 3rd goals from Haaland n Doku...
Unlucky deflection for man city 2nd goal...

man city fully deserved the 3 points thou, they were playing few gears ahead of our team... hope our new team can find their footing asap...
