I am concerned about the hike in my electricity bills over the past two months. My electricity bill had gone up with no discernible change in the use of appliances. I stay alone,I am now return home at 12.30 am (vs 9 pm before), and leave at 10 am (vs 9.30 am before) almost daily. I am aware that some have encountered similar experiences. Is this situation normal, and why? Did I miss any news or changes in policy?

Would there be someone tapped into my electricity bill? I am confused.

Check the actual kwh usage in the bill first.

maybe you have daytime intruder using your letrik when you're out

You may request TNB to check your meter there if there's current leak.

You sleep with aircon at what temp?

off your main DB, then see your electricity still run or not.

You use electrik stove, water heater, aircon, clothes dryer, charge your EV car?

Same la. Adjustment made konon suppose to be higher. Never heard of lower the rate when we use less

if your electric is three phase u need techinician to come over to help you do balancing, because if there is a charge in electricity bills, they usually use the one cable with the highest usage and charge u the bill

You using more hours of aircond as weather is hot ya.

100rm per month for 1 person is about normal

Not I didn't; my habit of using all the appliances is still the same. That makes me curious and concerned. If the policy of removing the subsidy causes all these, then I am perfectly fine with it.

Not by much. But you may want to check the power usage if the fridge if it is an old one. In some cases, some component fault may cause it to do cooling cycle more that it should.

If you hardly sleep with aircon ON, that usage cost is high for a single person.

Change temp is not the problem But at what temp and what mode you run the aircon. That can affect the bill cost.

The detail that you think is not matter is the matter.

I set my temperature at 25. Appliances I use daily are a fridge (24 hours), laptop (5 hours max), a hair dryer (less than 5 mins), water heater (15 mins)… that's all I can think of, and have been the same since I moved in, meaning seven years ago, and until these two months I saw the bill goes up, and that concerned me. If it's because we no longer enjoy the subsidy, I'm perfectly fine. Just wanna fix issue before it's too late, if really there is any.

i didnt do anything, it was the weather. Heatwave causes spike in electric bill, now more raining, bill goes down.

What is your bill cost before this hike? Gradually up or sudden hike?

There might be the fridge or the aircon. This 2 can cause sudden high consumption.

You can do some test to see the meter record.

OFF all the aplicences. Not even 1 thing is running. Record the meter number. Wait an hr. Then record the meter again. Compare before and after the number. That can know anything is running or not.

For checking the high consumption like aircon, record the meter before ON the aircon, run the aircon as usual for 8hr sleep. After 8hr, record the usage and minus the record before. And you get the usage kWh. If you don’t no is it high or low usage, post it here all the record detail and let people here check for you.

Sure alone or got people stay with u… this kind of usage should not more than 50.

The hike was sudden, having been around RM50-60 since seven years ago. Max will be RM80 like that, but only when my family visits.

ur char siu son bought a new intel gpu that apparently is using 40w even in idle due to hardware limitation and is contributing to the increase of electricity
or ur wife bought a new dyson and keep vacuuming non stop and have to charge it everyday
or the weather is so hot that ur AC needed to work harder to achieve the usual temp you set
im guessing its the hot weather issue

with this/about usage your bill estimate is around 100rm pm. assuming you using Aircond/ 1 HP about 8 hours daily .

there has been no change in tnb charging policy for your case.

you can check /analyse your daily usage online to see any issues. where up much .

i suspect your fridge could be faulty . it/compressor does not cut off hence run 24 hours .

If you're using smart meter, check half-hourly usage in myTnb via website. App only can check daily & monthly usage

WTA anyone here know why mytnb app and the paper bill that send to house the usage dont match?? mytnb app says usage for month is 316 but the paper bill that came says 376???

Weird, are you using the smart meter?

Is the Bacaan Meter (Semasa) same on both bills?
Check their calculation, and your house meter see which one reading is nearer?
And are both bills Bacaan Sebenar or Anggaran?

Might have mistake and only can call TNB for this tho

the paper say bacaan sebenar. the price that I need to pay RM*** is the same in paper and app. But the problem from what I see in the app when I look at by month the usage kWh does not match with what is on the bill? Kwh by month on the app shows 616kwh but suddenly in final bill it says 676 kwh??
