Hello, I just got an increment of salary since last month, I plan to wait for maybe 6-8 months later to buy a 2nd car, I'm looking at a few namely Toyota Camry 2.5 Hybrid & Volkswagen CC, also open to other options. My budget for repayment monthly is around 600-800, maximum 1k and below, which means the car that I'm buying should range around 60k+. Would appreciate any advice and open to anything as well.

My main question is, if I do go for 2nd hand car, what are the few important things that I have to know and make sure of in order to not get cheated by dealers ? Also, which reputable 2nd hand dealership should I be buying 2nd hand car from ? Thanks !

Your buying range 60k+
You shortlist Toyota Camry 2.5 & VW CC which is >RM150k value car.. you need to realize you will be maintaining a RM150k car not a RM60k car…

My advise would be not to buy from dealer. Most likely the dealer would have reconditioned the mileage. Just go back to Toyota or VW MY, and ask the last service mileage recorded..and see the current mileage of the car.

Coming back to finances..even if the car is good condition..can you afford to run it? Have you checked the prices of the tires? I suppose you won’t risk your life and safety by buying some unknown China brand.

I think the Toyota Camry Hybrid is a solid buy but the road tax, and tyres as well as maintenance isn’t cheap. Also buy from direct owner where possible and validate the mileage with Toyota Malaysia. If the hybrid is heavily used the battery would be nearing EOL due to the wear from charge cycles. VW CC…haha I won’t touch it if its your primary vehicle.
