If I deposit RM 3334 one time, can I get the incentive?

Or must I deposit money monthly?

EPF has now become a charity organisation under PMX, instead of a retirement fund. Totally lost the objective of why it was establish.

As with all things, it's always better to directly ask/call EPF

that said, according to their website FAQ, it's "Total Contributions Accumulated Current Year"

meaning whether you contribute monthly or lump sum, as long as it's add up to RM3,334 by the end of 2024, you will get the incentive.

btw, it appears that the scheme has a lifetime incentive limit of RM5,000
So if you max out (RM500) every year, you can claim it 10 times

Yes, the maximum is RM 5000.

If we never set a lifetime maximum limit, the Ministry of Finance in Malaysia could face bankruptcy, given the country's large population.

Do you need to create a new i-saraan account? If yes, how to apply?

Even with 15% for 10 years also will face problem. Where are they getting the money from to return 15%? If they can do it, I don't see a problem giving epf members 10%.

You're asking if the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) can give a 10% dividend rate to all members?

They cannot do it this way.

However, if they offer a RM 500 per year incentive to each person who deposits RM 3,334 into the EPF, they might be able to do it. They have the ability to do so.

This incentive is for freelancers and gig economy workers who do not compulsorily contribute to the EPF. If you have a full-time job that contributes to the EPF monthly, you are not entitled to this RM500 i-Saraan incentive.

So not many people can get this RM 500 incentive..

because the 15% is not for unlimited amount
there is a max RM500 per year (or RM5,000 total)

it's like Shopee 80% voucher coupon, but capped at RM1 total.

If 10,000 people participate in it, EPF would have to contribute RM5,000,000/year
But in return, they would receive a minimum of RM33,340,000/year
and the money they received will be lock-in with them until the participant retirement

but that is not what's important
this incentive is meant to be a "starter seed"
it's to compel people to kick start a saving and start a habit

what people don't understand is the power of compounding interest
saving with compounding interest can more than double the saving in the long run

remember kids, save early.
and if you do not have any other form of investment, then contribute more to your epf (don't just contribute the bare minimum RM3,334)

QUOTE(stormsea7 @ Apr 15 2024, 11:48 PM)
You guys need to consider compound interest

If you start working at age 25 with approx RM3k salary

at a conservative of 3% annual salary increment and 5% EPF dividend
you too can save a million by the time you retire
this of course does not include your bonuses and other investments

compound interest can double your saving in the long run
this is why it is very VERY important to start contributing early
and very stupid of people to premature withdraw it

Suppose I save 1000 a month.

Does that mean every month I'll get back 15%, RM 150 or it works some other way? hmm.gif
