Yo bro, since Stellantis is newly handling direct only so ever recently this year 2024, many will not have experence to share and all thoughts are more like guesses.
But as the first gen 408 owner of 9 years until I let it off, let me tell you this.
Peugeot are wannabe , wannabe alternatives to Germans VW or even BMW and they fight with what they do best, designs that screams, watch me!
Are they are well engineered? No way like the Germans. In a lot of way they are fighting like Koreans which I have also owned one before: Beautiful in a quirky way, but like all beauties with oddities, they are temperamental ,a bit of a wild thing, tends to throw tandem now and then, if that is your thing, go ahead.
If not your thing, best admire from far, like how we often do when looking at high fashion and maintenance chics.
So bro, you are an ex-owner of the Peugeot 408 for 9 years. Good to know.
The new 408 model with completely new engine and body will be different from the old 408 and yet to be proven. Nevertheless to me it's best to admire from far for now, although it's one desirable machine at a price that's not too exorbitant. It's the same with other Chinese vehicles such as Jaecoo J7 for instance, looks nice and promising with a fairly decent price tag. I've said it before if all these vehicles have a Toyota badge stamped on it, the it's worthy of consideration.
Currently the upcoming Nissan Kicks is the top in my shortlist. The entry price remains unknown but hopefully it's around RM100k-120k mark to be competitive.
