I just read about this new Peugeot 408 recently launched, and it's now under Stellantis instead of the old Naza. Any thoughts or experiences on this new dealership for Peugeot vehicles? Has anyone seen the new 408 in the flesh or perhaps test-drove it already? The car looks good, looks like a hybrid between sedan and SUV. Price is also quite down-to-earth at RM147k for the base model being locally assembled (CKD) in Gurun, Kedah.

Are there any other vehicle brands being CKD's in Gurun Kedah apart from this new Peugeot 408? Is this Gurun plant known to produce good quality vehicles?

Yo bro, since Stellantis is newly handling direct only so ever recently this year 2024, many will not have experence to share and all thoughts are more like guesses.

But as the first gen 408 owner of 9 years until I let it off, let me tell you this.

Peugeot are wannabe , wannabe alternatives to Germans VW or even BMW and they fight with what they do best, designs that screams, watch me!

Are they are well engineered? No way like the Germans. In a lot of way they are fighting like Koreans which I have also owned one before: Beautiful in a quirky way, but like all beauties with oddities, they are temperamental ,a bit of a wild thing, tends to throw tandem now and then, if that is your thing, go ahead.

If not your thing, best admire from far, like how we often do when looking at high fashion and maintenance chics.

Bro, not exactly zero RV I believe? You put it like it's completely trash. haha  biggrin.gif  I just sold my Ford Focus mk3 which I owned for 10 years earlier this year, still can fetch RM12k. Not exactly total loss. Bought RM110k, sold RM12k, at least it can still fetch a little money which is better than nothing.

Ford Focus can fetch better price because you can still go back to SD if you get into trouble, Peugeot, no more Naza, no more Berjaya, now it is only a Careline...

I sold my 9 year old Pug for less than 10k 2 years back

So bro, you are an ex-owner of the Peugeot 408 for 9 years. Good to know.

The new 408 model with completely new engine and body will be different from the old 408 and yet to be proven. Nevertheless to me it's best to admire from far for now, although it's one desirable machine at a price that's not too exorbitant. It's the same with other Chinese vehicles such as Jaecoo J7 for instance, looks nice and promising with a fairly decent price tag. I've said it before if all these vehicles have a Toyota badge stamped on it, the it's worthy of consideration.

Currently the upcoming Nissan Kicks is the top in my shortlist. The entry price remains unknown but hopefully it's around RM100k-120k mark to be competitive.

Nissan?

Kick was on my wanting list too for a while, a long while actually but it never arrive despite whatever SA says back then , so my fear is only will it ever come?

Wow, in your case totally no more support from Naza for Peugeot vehicles? So bad? Stellantis can't provide after-sales for old Peugeot vehicles? If that's the case, not a surprise resale value is low. Can still go to outside workshop if that's the case, though spare parts will be problem.

I traded in my Ford when getting the new Nissan Almera. If I post on Mudah.com and sell alone, it will likely fetch a higher price around RM15k+/- but I don't want the hassle since I have replaced the steering rack with a poor condition unit. The interior of the car is in tip top condition.

After warranty, I have already get serviced elsewhere , not from Naza anymore and never been to Berjaya.

I sold my car before Stellantis take back, so can't comment about Stellantis.

Outside service is not bad but too many cars waiting to be served and repaired, I think 408 was more popularly sold than Focus back then, too many long waits and sometimes have to leave cars overnights are the reason why I said I am done with it.

Spending money is one thing, but your time and energy get sucked out like that is another.

That is why I dislikes service visits. That is why my next car will all be EVs if given the choice

Yes, Nissan kicks. My sales advisor told me it's coming by year end. Even if it's delayed, I would expect it to come by early to middle of next year. As for the new X-trail, it's postponed to next year.

I hope you are right but I don't share your optimism on Kickc's arrival.
