Got mine A500 front & back.
previously using 70mai pro for front & DDpai mini at rear.
Both perform ok until i changed to A500, front video not wide screen and rear cam video really trash same as pasar malam cam...

Took me a while to realise RC is rear camera. How much gb sd card is considered enough?

Have this but night time hard to see number plate unless very near. Thinking to upgrade and add rear cam also.

the rear cam is 1080p. what were you expecting? for a rear cam its plenty good enough. Even for night time.

as for the front video, yes it is not widescreen and boxy. because the original resolution is higher.

if you crop it to 1920x1080 you wont lose out on any details. In terms of viewing the video directly it may seem like the video is not capturing as much as widescreen. But you are actually capturing way more details than traditional 1920x1080 videos.

I just bought a500s a couple of months back. Seems like the number plate is not clear, unless if the car is 1-2m infront of you. Is this normal? Or there is a way to make it clearer?

my settings i just use the highest resolution video. btw turn off wifi function (i find that this greatly reduces the heat, otherwise it gets hot until can fry egg on it). Only turn on wifi function if needed, e.g. update software or sync with phone app.

if you dont mind, upload to youtube or some other video hosting site the original video then only i can judge whether your dashcam video is normal or got anything wrong.

btw, you view the video on PC after taking out microSD card or directly from dashcam/phone?

Directly from phone, transfer wirelessly from dashcam. Didn't touch the SD card at all

I'm using ddpai mola N3 and if number plate is ~1.5 car length away at night, really too blur. Can guess la but wanna use as evidence confirm kena rejected.
Day time pretty clear for that budget.

for me it's fine enough since it's already recording at 1.9k
but that's also the reason i ask people not to get 1080p dashcam...it's not sufficient

for now, get something at least 70mai A500s and equivalent for better night time recording

Good tip will try. Mine is always on and sometimes the dashcam will auto off cause of over heating.

A810 also same even though it has huge heatsink inside, overheat until it freeze, BTW I already turned off HDR and also WIFI. My Viofo dashcam temperature doesn't reach that high

my a500s have HDR on. that feature is too good not to be on, especially for night recording..

Hmm, even with wifi off also still overheat ah? Damn. Cause i find that the wifi is the one that generates the most heat.

I keep every non-essential settings to a minimal to avoid heat. So display seconds is minimal, wifi is off, etc. Cant rmb my full settings liao

Chose ddpai because of capacitor actually. Rather not have to go out of my way to always park in the shade.

Actually long drives also the dashcam will heat up as exposed to sun directly.

for me, so far all the 70mai and ddpai dashcam i used i'm satisfied
just not so happy about the video quality of the 1080p version only

the 1st 70mai dashcam call 70mai pro...that one was also good
basically a downgraded version of A500s that doesn't support rear dashcam

bruh........... it's not about the resolution, it's about the type of lens they use. ( or image sensor some call it now)

go check out the different type of sensor they have in each range and brand,

different type of aperture is what determine how clear and sharp is it even at night.

u can have a 720p sharp n clear field of view dashdam at night.

saying purely.. resolution is false info..

the more correct is aperture
but that's on camera...so unless you're using camera as dashcam, it's hard to "adjust"
in the dashcam world, sadly...the higher the resolution, the better the lens and aperture they use which translate to better night time video

u will never find a dashcam that is recording at 720p that looks clear at night...even the 1080p dashcam is doing pretty bad for night time video

buy 4 cam.

My ddpai when hot day parking, come out error overheat.
Take about 5 mins of driving with aircond to cool it down.

My advice, get 2 from different brands. Jus in case one gets error.

i'm using DDPAI X5 Pro since May 2023 (honda BRV) and Jun 2023 (honda city).

so far no overheating problem.

but must be I put the BaseUS CoolRide Sunshade umbrella every time i parked at an open field, so the interior car not that hot during hot day.

Front only. 70mai pro don’t have rear cam.
