Hello experts and fellow Maybank Malaysia users.

I am a slowfag and I finally went to activate my Secure2U on my Maybank Malaysia app... keyed in my Singapore mobile number, keyed in my MyKAD IC number and ... promptly got ¢0ck-blocked by the message "please complete the activation at the nearest ATM"....

Now I'm stuck because I'm based in Singapore and won't be visiting Malaysia anytime soon...

Is there a time limit to how long before the 2nd activation requirement expires?

And, if it expires, can we simply start the process again?

Thanks in advance!

You are a veritable genius and a half. Just got off the phone with a very helpful awek and I enjoyed both the conversation (since I do t get much of a chance to speak in Malay here in Singapore) as well as her clear and concise responses.

I’m all set in 12 hours and I’m now DuitNow enabled thanks to you!

Got, but I wasn’t sure whether it would allow activation of a Malaysian account. No biggie, all sorted out via a helpful hint and a phone call.

Yes, that’s what the customer service lady told me. But they make exceptions if you’re based overseas. Have to call in and they’ll ask a few questions to verify your identity then they’ll activate it for you.

Now that ts prob is solved

I want to tumpang tered and ask anyone here if i have a maybank account here in malaysia

Can i go and open a maybank singapore account?

Then i want to transfer all my ringgit and covert it to singapore dollar and park my money at maybank singapore for a while maybe

Then if the need arise i can go to singapore in person and withdraw all my money that i converted from ringgit to sgd over there in person

Is it possible?

Yes, after many complaints by those who reside overseas.

Yes can. I did that about 10 years ago.

Can do conversion and transfer online too. But the rates are bad. So I am using Wise.

You can also do what I did, but in reverse. Get your local Maybank Premier or Private banker to set up the account in Singapore and be introduced to your personal banker here in Singapore.

When it is all ready, the Singapore banker may be able to come to KL to let you sign the paperwork.

Mine was the other way round, where the JB banker came up to let me sign the paperwork but the principle is the same I guess.

Hi, may I know whats the number you called? I tried calling their customer hotline 603-7844-3696 as stated on their website but the lady told me they do not have the authority to activate my secure2u and wanted me to go to an ATM in JB to activate it myself.

Btw I tried Maybank ATM in SG and theres no option for secure2u activation when I insert my Maybank MY card

Oh dear. I checked the number you listed and I realised that was the exact same number that I called a few months ago… 603-7844-3696.

I’m not sure, but mine was activated successfully.

Are you with Maybank Premier? Maybe you could try to reach out to your relationship manager for help?

So sorry that I wasn’t able to help. Strange. They activated my card and my DuitNow works (I managed to use DuitNow to make transfers to jack2 to help support his voluntary kennel endeavour a month or so ago.

Maybe its different because I changed to a new phone that requires reactivation of secure2u rather than opening new maybank account directly in SG. But thank you for sharing your experience notworthy.gif
