So the origin line is Naruto was forced to use Baryon mode to win Kurama's last fight, with that, Kurama's last chakra is consumed as part of the ritual, negating Naruto's requirement to die in order to save the kids (mind you, Sasuke was also handicapped at that point)

So with the removal of Kurama, Naruto loses the status as Jinchuruki but does not die from the loss of the status; Therefore the next Jinchuruki is now passed to Himawari as the next choice as she does possess the bloodline of Naruto (which then comes from Hashirama - Uzumaki lineage) and therefore has the innate ability to control tailed beasts. This is subsequently reinforced with the presence of Byakugan.

But now Naruto does not have any signature move / power source after the void left by Baryon mode, therefore, Naruto is almost devoid of external chakra (apart from Natural chakra); Then, this means that the only way for Naruto to at least have some fight (before being obsolete to the next generations), is to master domain expansion which actually forms a good compliment with the natural chakra. This allows Naruto to expand his domain with natural chakra, with the domain's sure hit effect is available, the only problem now is to deal damage, as sure-hit without damage does not mean much.
