The Joneses [2009]a picture perfect family, move to upper class suburban neighbourhood. they show off their 'perfect -ness' and wealthy lifestyle to their new neighbours. deep down, there is a big business scam.. faded star Demi Moore and David Duchovny starred on this one, they doing good. and Demi always looked hot despite her age.. pretty entertaining all round, 7.5/10 This post has been edited by dundermifflin: Sep 23 2010, 06:27 PM

The Last King of Scotland [2006]before watch this film i was baffled with the title, why on earth a black man related to King of Scotland? instead, its a story about Idi Amin, a military dictator of Uganda in 70s. Whitaker at his best, won Academy through this performance. rating 8/10.

Sang Pemimpi [2009] - Indonesian
adapted from the novel with a same title 'Sang Pemimpi' wrote by Andrea Hirata, a sequel to Novel /Film Laskar Pelangi [2008].
an inspirational story about 3 teenagers, from a poor village in Manggar, to achieve their dream to further their study abroad.
much better than Laskar Pelangi, but less inspirational. the OST are quiet good.
rating 8/10

QUOTE(maxizanc @ Oct 8 2010, 05:02 AM) Watched Atonement and oh my, the movie is so beautiful. Everybody could easily says this movie is too slow and boring but i didn't find it slow at all, and the movie is so detail and so beautiful with a twisted ending. May i add, this movie is also quiet touching, made me nearly cried. Hate Briony so much, she has every reason to be hated, how her foolish acts made them two separated and died due to that, the only thing that i think she should be loved is because he tells the story and her reminisce. Ended up in so much misery the rest of her whole life. ^this, indeed its beautiful.. The Last House On The Left [2009]arent so good, but arent bad either. a normal parent try to get a revenge when their daughter raped and nearly kill by a runaway prisoner. i watched it because of Monica Potter rating 5/10

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Oct 15 2010, 05:03 PM) Law Abiding Citizen finally got time to watch it few days back, a very good story about a revenging father/husband, but spoilt by a bad ending Fox's acting was so so only, didn't gave him chance to shine, whereas Butler's acting is better than Fox in this film, maybe bcos he gets to act a more complex character this. the explanation on how he did it are ridiculous, no way he get it done all by himself. though, great start and good idea.

Serenity [2005]
few weeks ago, i read somewhere that this film listed as 'The Greatest Science Fiction of All Time' (poll made by movie magazine or something). TBH, i never heard of it.. and i just watched it yesterday..
its continuity of US TV series, Firefly (which i dont know about it too).. only 1 actress i recognize, cute Summer Glau (from Sarah Connor Chronicles)
overall, its a very good film. for comparison, the CGI not as good as Star Wars (new trilogy), but the story are much better.. but certainly will not get my vote as 'The Greatest Science Fiction of All Time'..

QUOTE(azbro @ Oct 22 2010, 09:02 AM) I watched Serenity first before it convinced me to watch Firely....but then...I really have to say need to watch Firely first to appreciate Serenity...so..I can't really say which to watch first... I think both are good fun...but as you said, not the Greatest... QUOTE(ray148 @ Oct 22 2010, 09:34 AM) u hav to watch Firefly first to fully appreciate Serenity...i did this n it was exciting to see how the special effect got a total make over...it feels like watching the old tv series star trek and get the series finale in a JJ Abrams star trek remake quality...plus they also resolve the main plot from the series... that's why i totally agree when the movie is called one "The Greatest Science Fiction of All Time"... such a tragedy that the movie flop horribly at the box office... yeah maybe.. i dont have a clue about the movie, just the tag 'The Greatest..' made me expect something big.. better than Star Trek, which is too boring for me (the movie, and i never follow the series)

QUOTE(GuyzNexDoor @ Oct 20 2010, 02:09 PM) Winter's Bone - 10/10Watched this movie last nite, and it is worth every minute of it Many pundits already predicted that this movie will be one of the strong contenders for Best Picture of The Year award. I never heard any of the cast, though i think maybe there was one time i did saw that leading actress in another movie but forgot what the title. This movie oso reminds me about another excellent movie, a french or is it belgium movie called My Queen Karo, which i watched 2-3 months ago. I wonder how they teach the kids to act like a pro... it seems so real as if those are their real life situation or how they live their life. i never give a movie 10/10, but this movie are really good. so i go for 8.5/10.. certainly award winning material movie, and that girl (Ree) is very outstanding a bit boring if u dont like slow movie, but certainly its the best 2010 movie i watched this year.. The Lake House [2006]
re-watched it yesterday. love the story, love Sandra Bullock..
the story apparently beyond logic and contained too much paradoxs, but nevertheless i love it. a love story between a man and woman, who never met and separated by 2 years time. their only connections are a mail box, a dog and the lake house.
7/10

Gone Baby Gone [2007] love it. child abducting story, good deeds vs unlawful act. Ben Affleck is a promising young director, ill look forward to his works after this. 9/10
Zodiac [2007] another David Fincher's great work. its a long movie (nearly 2.5 hours) and made me yawn at certain points. it played with lot of serial murder case facts, and we need to keep up with those facts to keep up with the story. interesting ending, great characters, some movies that i would like to re-watch again in future. 8.5/10
Revolutionary Road [2008] reunion of Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio. the essence of the story are just ordinary, seem -good couples with eternal conflicts. but beautifully played. another good work of Di Caprio (and Winslet). like the ending though unfaithful husband /wife story always give me painful moments. 8/10
Adventureland [2009] i dont know why i picked this film, maybe a little mix up between it and Zombieland [2009]. and i assumed its a zombie film, but Adventureland [2009] just a teenage love story. ordinary film, nothing special, but if i still a teenager, i might like it. 1 certain thing is, Eisenberg is a very promising talent out there and will have a great future. 6/10

Grostesque [2009] Japanese.
never like this type of film, really just to past time.
just so-so, empty story, full with blood and torture, no better than most Hollywood /Europe human torture films.
4/10

The Lives of Others [2006] (German: aka Das Leben der Anderen)
certainly 1 of the best German movie ever. set in pre German unification, when GDR's secret police will do anything to surveillance their political crime suspects.
