King Wu Bayue
King Wu Bayue, Hmong of West Hunan who led one of the biggest rebellions against Qing Dynasty. This rebellion started in 1795 and ended in 1806. It took Chinese forces from seven provinces to suppress this rebellion. Over 500,000 Hmong men, women and children were killed in this rebellion. Despite the suffering, the Hmong were pleased to never surrender to oppression, forced assimilation, and annihilation. King Wu Bayue was known to be an honest and educated man who had great knowledge and was skillful in martial art. Only through the painting of Yang Tong He that King Wu Bayue is brought back to life.
