Matroska Codec Full/Lite
The famous full pack, not only for playing matroska media files, but it will also allow playback of most modern video formats on any DirectShow player, even with Windows Mediaplayer 6.4/7/8/9/10. For this reason the Matroska Pack Full has gathered some attention from the video compression scene, and has established itself as a very slim and intelligent alternative to the usually overloaded codec packs out there.

Features of Matroska Pack Full 1.1.2 :

Most of the hard work is being done by the great FFDShow decoder Filter based on FFMPEG and enabling playback of:
- DivX 3/4/5
- XviD ( before RC3 ; for later versions install the official XviD DShow decoder filter )
- WMV7/8
- H.264
but the pack also adds playback support for:
- Vorbis using FFDShow (for Ogg Vorbis audio files, install also the Ogg Splitter from Tobias Waldvogel)
- AAC and AAC+SBR (HE-AAC) audio, using FFDShow
- AC3 audio, using FFDShow
- FLAC lossless audio, using FFDShow
- Wavpack another lossless audio codec supporting hybrid mode (with + without loss)
- TTA another lossless audio codec
- Subtitles, using vsfilter (DVobSub)
. Extra features ( need to be activated during the installation process ):
- The matroska shell extension ( MatroskaProp 2.8 ), to able to check matroska files from Explorer

Features of Matroska Pack Lite 1.1.2 :

Reduced to the max, this pack contains only the very basic stuff needed to play matroska files with Vorbis audio and Subtitles on DirectShow players, so in order to be able to play all your files you need the right video and audio decoders installed already. Also coming with it is the matroska muxer filter, allowing you to create matroska files from DirectShow based muxing and capturing applications, such as ATV2000 or VirtualVCR_matroska.

Features of Matroska Pack MPEG4 1.0.3 [Development discontinued!] :

This pack is based on the full pack, but has all the stuff removed which is not necessary for playback of a typical DivX/XviD MKV file, delivering decoders for
- DivX 3/4/5 ( ffdshow )
- XviD ( before RC3, ffdshow)
- WMV7/8 ( ffdshow )
- Vorbis, using CoreVorbis
- AAC and AAC+SBR ( HE-AAC ), using CoreAAC
- Subtitles, using vsfilter ( DVobSub )
Extra features ( need to be activated during the installation process ) are
- Morgan Audio Stream Switcher : Windows Mediaplayer can't switch between several audio streams in a file, so if you really insist on using it, make sure to install this switcher
- Matrix Audio Mixer : Necessary if you are trying to play a 6ch audio file on a 2ch Soundcard, unless the audio decoder filter has such a downmixer coming with it.

Changes in Matroska Packs 1.1.2 :

- Use the VSfilter with border bugfix
- Update Haali's splitter to version 11-10-2005
- Update ffdshow to version 15-10-2005 (better H264 decoding)
