Anyone experience difficulty learning or maintain current language proficiency.

All this time I only know hokkien, malay and English. Suddenly now work with china company, now need to learn speaking mandarin and Indonesia also although still no need learn so much mandarin as I only mostly deal with english speaking Chinese I reporting to though sometimes I need to understand what they say also. Now got GF2 indonesia also need to learn but this is easier as some of their word taken from english.

So now basically need to know how to speak and hear hokkien, mandarin, Indonesia, English, Malay. Abit overwhelm and mix up sometimes especially communicate in malay now tend to mix some indonesia word when i speak or reply message

Usually IQ low cant learn that many languages. Go check youtube, got one guy speak 25 languages. Takes patience also.

Here Chinese easily 6 dialects + languages.

Dialect different. Got similarities. Mine is 4 language + 1 dialect

That's why for some Chinese, lower iq people can only mandarin and English and unable learn malay
It's not they don't want
It's just their limitations and also lousy education in Malaysia

I am sure if you ask malay to learn Chinese, it will be hard also

Bangla can learn malay but not all

Not many are high iq

In Malaysia probably 10% of whole country is high iq which earn money at T10 level

Low iq people are B90

Language is mostly easy to learn grammatically.

The difficult part is remembering all the vocabulary. That one no choice just need to practice and remember.

Language is all about practice and practice
Always good if you have somebody to talk with, that wouldn't mind to be patient with you

as we are built differently, it's a subjective answer to this question.

for me, it's easier to learn Hokkien(Southern Min) if i am proficient in Mandarin first because at least i learn the foundation of Chinese language from the Chinese characters. a lot of individuals thought that they know Hokkien(Southern Min) without knowing the right Chinese character, hence pronouncing it incorrectly. of course this is subject to location based pronunciation especially Quanzhou vs Zhanghou

and as for professional proficiency, a lot of terms are alien to us if we are working with China company as our vocab will be different and certain terms are used in the working environment only especially technical terms

For short interactions of course can but if want to communicate with friends need to be conversational

The thing is, once you start to use 1 of the language more, you tend to think in that language.
I speak and write 6 languages, during meeting between different countries, you start to get confuse as your brain tries to think in multiple languages.
For me that’s the worse part. Learning it is not that hard if you have the heart. But once there’s multiple language at the same time, your brain macam overload trying to translate each and every word.
I can converse easily if 1 to 1 but when 3 languages comes into play it takes time for me to think and reply.

China mnc? Then why do you need to speak indon? Why not communicate in English with the indon?

indonesia and malay is the hardest to switch between because certain contradict each other in each language

I learnt Pg Hokkien in school with friends and rempit malay with geng lajak (high class racing bikes not pariah modified bmx/chopper). I already speak Thai (bangkok/southern/northern) at home and also from relatives back in Thailand. Cantonese from playing basketball (cuss words first), then from HongKies in UK. where I studied while I shared a house, worked part time in kitchens/takeaway and later in KL. English and BM already learnt in school where I also took mandarin from std 1-6 and German for 2 years cos I tot I can get free education in Germany later. A smattering of French from girlfriend and weekend trips to Paris but studied later in Penang for 1.5 years before my teacher died of cancer.

I dun know how my brain retains so many accents or languages but the moment I hear people speaking in their native language, my brain translate and my mouth starts speaking their language that I'm familiar in their accent, if not I will be blur if you ask me to translate English to another language out of the blue.

Indon is close to bm so it shouldn't be hard to learn and mix both.

Plus mixing hokkien in while speaking mandarin isn't something to be frowned upon too, this is quite the norm in Taiwan and eventually ppl can roughly understand

Coba mas liburan ke Indonesia jalani hidup kaya orang asli sini, ngomong untuk beli pangan atau nyari kebutuhan harian di toko atau ruko.Pas mau kemari jangan lupa khabrin aku ye di lowyat.
