yes there were so liberated that they were murdered en masse in granada in 1066
Exceptions always happen...1066 is still during the height of Jewish Golden Age in Al Andalus that lasted until 12th century.
Taifa of Granada was a small independent state in Al Andalus region, as a result when the Caliphate of Cordoba broke up into smallstates or taifas, then later all reunited by Al Moravids
Taifa of Granada had a line of Jewish vizier and the muslim population was agitated by vizier Joseph that had none of the quality of the previous jews vizier Samuel, who was known of being wise. The rampaging mob killed hundreds or thousands of jews.
This was social unrest and isolated only to the taifa of Granada, not other taifas. Also, the massacre wasn't sanctioned by the king of Granada.
This absolutely different during first crusade, when European nobilities allowed genocide of muslims and jews in Jerusalem.
Also according to hadith, killing a dhimmi is forbidden, while wholesale killings were sanctioned by God in bible.
So, those who massacred jews in Granada has violated Islamic Law and can't be defended.
