Depending who is using/seating in the car. Take CX5 19" rim vs CRV as example.

If the driver wears pant and love the zoom zoom lifestyle, they will love the CX5 because it is like a sport car with more premium interior.
But for passengers in the back seat, they will dislike the CX5. If you drive on poorly paved roads, they will hate you even more. If need to install kid car seats, your wife might swear at you.

The CRV is the opposite. Good news is, drive wise, the new CRV is getting closer to CX5 but still not up to CX5's level.

So, who is making the decision? The driver or the passenger?

If it is your wife making the decision, I think the Corolla Cross may fit her. It's comfortable. It's smaller for parking.

The CX8, compared to CX5, is longer by 325 mm or over a feet longer. That is a lot.

Width. About same.

Ladies go for look of the car. They don't care much about hp or torque or who design or how long the design. Once she like the look, hard to get her to change her mind.

You can try take her to othe showrooms to get her to change her mind. But probably futile.

SUV can be dangerous sometimes because of the height literally many hidden blind spot especially for people not tall enough can end up tragedy

For good visibility SUV i still prefer xv or Forester

360 camera just for reference yes is helpful but can be dangerous sometimes imagine forward and reverse eye still staring at screen without notice left or right for parking purpose and the driver too focus on the screen end up bang the pass by vehicle when driver want to park perfectly scenes i see once before 😂😂

Who pay for the car? Between me and my wife, whoever pay make final call.

We get each other opinions out of respect, that's only for reference.

Fruit for thought.

Small family? If just husband and wife plus 1 kid then nx should still suffice. If got elderly and more than 1 kid, then suggest get something more spacious. Nx’s interior size is roughly comparable to cx-5.

If power not an issue, can consider rx300 otherwise rx350. If budget max out at 200k then maybe only crv can be considered as best bang for buck for sizeable family suv.

I have to ask... Would SUV suit a short person? Feels like short people will find it difficult to get out of the car. Cause the feet can't touch the ground when turning out. Hahahaha.

CX5 is good choice. New car and worry free.
Yeah- only slight changes in visual. Some added safety feature. Your wife won’t appreciate- but it is definitely good to have.

See Toyota Cross or HRV. Woman really need such big car?

About choice…. Save 40-60k, brand new car less worry.
NX or Harrier- still second hand. Why pay 200k for a car which 3-4 years old ?

I would choose peace of mind and less nagging. Especially she made ur choice

Agreed that Subaru is a great car in term stability and safety. Had a Forester from 2017 to 2023. Enjoyed every single moment of driving it especially during raining day. The gives the confidence to the driver while driving it. However, costs of ownership for a Subaru is slightly higher than other Jap make, especially the air-con system. For the whole ownership tenure, i had changed 3 air-con compressor. With that, I could not tolerate this anymore and sold the car last year Sept. The car mileage was about 60k kms.

I never regret of owning the Forester.

I have jumped ship to CX8 (2.5 NA), deciding factor is, more spacious for 2nd row passenger and free 5 years maintenance costs and warranty.

Happy motoring everyone!

Sadly majority of people only prefer looks.
But if for my wife, i would recommend her re-con C-HR from Japan, small, nimble, unique and easy to drive/park in small town/city area.
Knew few recon owners, they feedback really very good especially with the 1.2T engine (1st Gen) and more premium feel/better handling compare to Corolla Cross. Now the 2nd gen even more sportier, but only available in Europe & Australia.

Not sure you in Forester group Malaysia fb group, actually nowadays subaru air-con system got a lot of aftermarket OEM, recon & half-cut parts (China, Japan, Thailand & local) and even better warranty coverage (3 months to 1 years) and the cost at least 30~50% cheaper compare to what SC charging. We been sharing a lot of shop which is capable to service and charge at reasonable price in the group.

If you changed 3 air-con compressor - 1st mostly previous A/C service provider use wrong compressor oil (Need PAG100), 2nd did you knew about A/C servicing/flushing? Coz usually for Subaru member in group we recommend to sent our rides for A/C servicing every 1~2 years once (average 30~40k). My household Xv & Forester from 2015/16 until now still original compressor with every 2 years of A/C servicing.

Few member compressor spoilt they use China OEM & Japan half-cut/recon also no further issue after they follow the same advice by using PAG100 oil and regular service.

If budget is 200k

Tesla Y is better

But at 150k budget

E5 is very Keenly spec'd

https://www.carbase.my/car-comparison?id=UA...mDlC,TQ1lZiWyKL,

See how E5 beats Smart #1 and Atto 3 in certain area although asking for less money
