Nissan wowed the automotive world when it introduced its Variable Compression (VC) Turbo technology in 2016.


The innovative engine advancement, which essentially was capable of on-the-fly compression adjustment, promised to improve turbocharged fuel efficiency—something that had been eluding engineers for decades. Nissan's advanced technology made sense on paper, and it was well received by the automotive media who tested new cars:

"Our test car was the 2.0-liter variable compression turbo model, so we had a treat for the week.

There's plenty of power under your foot, and that makes all the difference," reported The Detroit Bureau.


It even won major automotive industry awards, with Nissan's 1.5-liter VC-Turbo engine making the

"Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems" list for 2022 — that's a strong accolade.

The company name originates from the surname of its founder, Jujiro Matsuda.


The Japanese pronunciation of “Matsuda” (マツダ) in katakana was adopted as the name of the automobile manufacturer. Initially, the company was called Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd. (東洋コルク工業株式会社).

I think Ekin Chengs Legend of speed is way more rewatchable than Jackie Chan's Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt feels disjointed and badly edited.

Jay Chows Initial D saving grace is Chapman To. I do not have a care about Jay Chow's Takumi. This movie, the shit character is more memorable than the lead. No problem with the driving scenes. Though can see them reusing some of it.

For the fast and Furious, #1 and 2 fast 2 Furious are the best. Tokyo Drift is next. The rest 4-10 are movies that you add into video games cut scenes.

90s all JDM race car. Most movies are GTR, EK9 Type-R, Evo 3,4,5,6,7,8,9, WRX Sti, Silvia, Matsuda RX-7, Fairlady 350Z, MR-2, GTO, NSX, Integra.

Very few movies featured 1990s Euro performance cars, E36 M3, 205 gti, SL600, Lambo Diablo, Lancia Delta Integral, RS2 Avant etc.

Unlike driving to the summit of other mountains, the journey up Mt. Haruna is not a straight-foward series of switchbacks and ***** hairpin corners ***** but, rather, follows the inconsistent folds of the mountain’s terrain. A sweeping turn taking you through the thickest part of the trees is followed by a set of intricate turns across the mountain face into a long straight across a plateau.



It’s no wonder that Mt. Haruna was chosen as the mountain on which to base the fictional Mount Akina (秋名山) in the popular manga and anime, Initial D (頭文字D). While drifting is not recommended, this really is a road for drivers.


Passengers, too, are in for a treat as the inconsistency in the leaves of the trees and terrain create a wonderful lighting atmosphere with sunlight either dappling through or presenting a golden threshold to cross as you round the next corner.


If you’re lucky enough to get the road to yourself, it’s easy to feel like you’ve driven your way into a Studio Ghibli film.

Officers also arrested notorious road racer Jim Chong-shing, dubbed the 'god of racing'. The 52-year-old is suspected of being an officer bearer of the Wo On Lok triad.


He was arrested on suspicion of driving without a valid licence and claiming to be a member of a triad society. Police said his gang was involved in stealing cars and road racing.

A police officer described the three men as 'prominent' and 'powerful' in triad circles.

'We believe our operation has dealt a heavy blow against the factions,' the officer said. The arrests were made after undercover police agents were deployed early this year to infiltrate the three triad gangs to collect evidence and identify key figure.


Late on Monday night, more than 100 officers from Kowloon West regional crime unit raided a number of locations, mainly in Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok, and arrested 66 people.

'Teddy' resisted arrest when officers moved in on him and several followers at a massage centre in To Kwa Wan at about midnight. At the same time, another team of officers arrested Jim in Mong Kok.


'Four Eyes Chuen' was arrested when officers raided an entertainment establishment in Mong Kok. During the operation, police also seized thousands of counterfeit watches and handbags and found pornographic discs.


The operation was continuing last night. The arrests marked the third police crackdown against triads in two months, and came after the leader of the Tsim Sha Tsui faction of the Sun Yee On triad, Lee Tai-lung, 41, was chopped to death outside the

Police have offered a HK$300,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Leung Kwok-chung, 40, alias Man Sun Chung, and Cheng Yuk-lun, 35, known as Chu Tau Sai, in connection with Lee's death.

In September, Kowloon West police crippled Lee's faction with the arrests of 34 people, including two high-ranking gangsters.

The following month, 46 people, including the leader of the Wo Shing Wo和勝和 faction, known as Dai Lung, were arrested.

This 1999 movie still the best.

Necroing but iirc Legend of Speed has really few "actual" driving scenes. The accident where Ekin Cheng lost his gf was bad cgi, the race up to that point was just Simon Yam tailgating him.

The ending was corny and just involved Ekin stepping on the gas and letting go of his fear or something. And Simon Yam somehow lost his nerve to chase? Or his car was too underpowered? who knows

Thunderbolt is disjointed yeah because of the obligatory fight scenes but it had actual real racing

He was typical Japanese drunk in the anime. As in harmless black out drunk needs to be carroed home. He doesn't neglect the son nor beats him for no reason

Initial D movie casting was weird. Shawn Yue, Edison Chen and Chapman To just acted as themselves. Jordan Chan must have assumed this was a young and dangerous sequel.
