fun to drive is surely HRV with the turbo engine
after test dtriving this, the rest when you test, no more fun

HRV turbo is most powerful.

Still most fun to handle is XV. The AWD can actively rotate the car more.

But XV is also most expensive to maintain. Everything is green and sunshine until owner needs to change the differential fluid, and there are 3 of them. Have fun when it is time to replace the plates on central differential.

Are you sure? Bro, Xv & most small AWD rides only got 2 differential fluid, Front & rear.
The one with the 3 is usually those 4x4 pick-ups or large SUV (land cruiser, Pajero with multiple drive mode selection).
The multiple drive mode is the one that need central differential.

75w-90 GL5 differential oil nowadays got a lot of options in market, you want cheap to expensive also got. Just go shoppee/lazada check, some brand only cost less than RM50/L. Front and rear the most add up around 2~3L of differential oil, RM150 can be done settle.
If want cheaper option take 80w-90 GL5 but heavier pick up.

Are you sure bro. Have you driven a locked central diff 4x4 on tar/pavement road.

How much is the cost relative to single diff FWD econobox, as TS requirements.

Not everyone buy shopee oil then go to bawah pokok mechanic and expect to pay RM5 for workmanship then don't mind any stripped bolt/screw thread. Don't get me wrong, I take the Subaru anytime if I'm in the market segment. I'll do the bawah pokok maintenance on P2, Chery, GWM, but never a car maker with soul including the Subaru.

Engineering explain only explain the different AWD concept but did not mention about the maintenance.
Go to SBR Technic or any Subaru SC and see Xv drivetrain and how they change the differential oil. FYI, is far more simpler than you think. I personally drive Xv since 2015, even taught and personally on hand with my mechanic the 1st time they change the CVT oil & differential oil for my ride after warranty end.  laugh.gif Xv is not complicated as you think (If not why a lot of US people can diy and post all those YouTube videos), all differential is open type so normal differential oil is suitable and even SC is using the cheapest Castrol 80w-90 GL-5. Yup, gonna admit that some bawah pokok mechanic dont even know there is a front differential oil to change. Got some Xv member after warranty end only change the rear differential oil and neglected the front, causing some damage it but luckily nowadays a lot of half-cut available.

Good sharing. Do take note I'm nor deny how easy or hard on what you said.

Just there is a center diff for any AWD oe 4x4,else they don't turn well on solid ground.

Whether they package the center diff in same case as transmission or saperate, it is an additional component.

This lead to more oil volume needed, even if one job change together with transmission + front open diff. Together with rear diff oil. Another additional.

How about when time to change the center diff plates. Do you know if we need to down the whole transmission unit?

My friend has a 2017 XV and center diff is making minor noise. He's dragging on the replacement. Forgot the quoted price, he always service at Subaru.

Simple or hard those are additional cost vs exonobox (I personally don't mind, but this is for TS).

At least you said Castrol. People going cheap on car maintenance has no bottom. My father is one, RM48 never heard snake engine oil brand from US and claimed to be fully synthetic, Vios after his maintenance drive like shit. Then wastes lots and lots and lots of money on junks to put on show (Out of topic). His favorite quote people see outside, looks pretty is most important. Under the car no one see. I'm too picky, NO ONE in the world care about the proper work. Every mechanic, body shop, house renovation contractor, carpenter etc will bankrupt.

We spend money on practical good quality stuff to improve life quality. A lot of old gen mindset people spend money for face.
