Hi. Planning to renew passport soon for urgent trip.

Is walk in now available? Any immigration office will turn away people for walk in? Googled but a bit confusing; some say can some say cannot.

Anyone who renewed recently please help

You walk in? Which branch you go?

This I can confirm 100% true.

My friend went to UTC Shah Alam around 3.00 am just to get number. Otherwise, need to visit back on another day.

go online portal, do the STO
https://sto.imi.gov.my/STO/booking.php

then select the passport renew.

You will get email confirmation of submission.
If successful, will request you collect on X date/time slot.

If fail, go to immigresen of the selected branch with the email stating you have appointment to submit picture / fingerprint as proof.

wait 2 hours to collect your passport on the same day.

The pegawai will gave you special numbering for that purposes. No needed to queue as early 3am for that. I went in 9am and get the special number to submit picture + fingerprint

3am? Meaning he queue 5 hours until 8am waiting for office to open?

Renewed my passport for myself and my mum recently.

Myself in Nov 23:
Thursday
Lunch time go photo shop, pay RM25 for Passport photo. They email softcopy. Go back office, apply/submit online 3.30pm

Get approved e-mail Friday 3.45pm.

Saturday go KJ Office at 10.30am, collect within 10mins.

My mum in Jan24:
Friday 11am take her to same photo shop. Submit online 2pm.
Got approval email 3.30pm.
Saturday go collect. This time tried UTC Shah Alam.

Based on my experience, KJ office collection time was about 10mins, UTC Shah Alam took 30mins.

I did this before...but there is no option to renew passport

I PMed TS the location but many hearsay from pakcik makcik in the line recently, UTC sangat penuh so they came from far to this place to queue for number.

Anyway some officers have their attitude so you have to be nice to them, then nice nice lah don't pick fights with them.

Memang like pre-MCO queue long long at Putrajaya (my previous passport) take number then only got chance.

Then have to make sure IC chip ok lah for easy thumbprint and take picture there. Otherwise you detour to JPN renew IC and take more hours off your life.



Additional info since you all discuss time. I went at 7am suda ada barisan queue.

depends on your photography skillz, if rejected, then u will have to go and retake photo at the office... im not sure what the process is, but alot ppl q-ing just for that wait hours also la..

im just happy to pay the rm25 for professional photos and only spend min time immigration office.

the website got the specifications all for the photo, must be certain measurements, background color.

my friend did try before last year, photo was rejected, then she had to go UTC and retake the photo.. i dont remember how long she had to Q for.

Plus info, they want you to pay via debit or credit card at payment counter. No longer accept cash directly.

Don't need bring hundreds of ringgit lah but have some spare notes of rm1 5 10 20s for photostat purposes or food drinks.

These buggers either no need sleep or because Jabatan godam Passport has 20 counter but only 2 working, the rest all system failure staff cant work.

Review says this is the fastest place for walk-in

Online is so hassle free. Just upload everything online and then after three days if it's still in process can walk in and tell them it's already three days. They will give you number and prepare your passport. It took only 20 minutes from taking the number to getting the passport even at busy main branch (Jalan Duta).

But if you need it immediately can download qms app and get the number through the app. Usually the number at 7am finish already. Try that one first. If not just walk in and queue before 7am at any branch.

Choose outskirt branches like putrajaya, puchong, Kajang passport will be done under an hour even with walk in.

Just avoid lunch hour and... Ahem Friday...

Download the apps and start clicking at 6am to get the number. Do not go there before u get the number

Hi, I'm planning to bring my parents walk-in to renew their passports. I read that for 60 years old and above need to walk-in for the special senior citizen price?
So basically I need to use the QMS apps to get the qué number and just bring the old passport and IC? How about photo and any other document ya?

When I was there i saw them handing special number ro the older folks. But if I were you I will still wake up at 6am to get the qms number just in case.

Bring your old passport. Photo will be taken on the spot. Remember to wear something dark. With collar.

For online renew, they use your old photo ka? Or need submit new photo?

What would cause it to fail?

I use recently photo. Not too old.

What area? AFAIK, Shah Alam and Kelana Jaya no online numbering system, as of Jan2024. Got to queue inline, based on type of application; problematic applications, OKU/Oldfolks. That time, they flatly rejected anything out of the cases categorized earlier; asking them to apply online. If they allow you to queue and walk-in, they will take the photo there and then.

Keep in mind they were real strict on the hair covering forehead and ears. Just make sure to gel their hair to avoid delay.

if walk-in, need to prepare all necessary documents and photocopies beforehand and be ready to grab number by 8am or else you wasted your time going to pejabat imigresen that day.

it will take a few hours to get everything done. for some people, might even take a full day.

i decided to renew online.
applied on 2pm Monday.
received notification e-mail saying my passport was ready at 4pm Tuesday.
Went to collect 9am earlier today - only had to wait 5-10 mins at pejabat imigresen to get my new passport.

if you can wait 2-3 days to get your passport, probably a much better deal to just renew online.
