Now renew car license no more physical card?

I just now went to renew my car license in poslaju, they told me physical version is just a piece of paper and now have digital version, that I need to download app.

What sh!t is this.
Where can like that.

if u drive in SG/Thailand/US/NZ/AUS/EU then gg lor as they don't recognized the slip. Need to pay another RM20 to JPJ for a physical card.

I just renewed using apps. Digital rm25, if you want card rm30

Make sure u did not select "digital version only" option, bring the receipt go JPJ or UTC with JPJ counter to get physical copy

The "card" is a laminated piece of paper, not a licence. It is only valid if shown with the expired original licence.

It is NOT valid for international use.

If you want a full licence like before, you have to pay extra, and show "evidence" you want to drive overseas.... passport, flight ticket etc...

I meant before recent one like TnG card, the license was laminated like old IC. Anyway, JPJ said not valid outside Malaysia but how the other countries know if it a valid or not valid license from other country

Hmmm.. this year is my first time went to JPJ just to renew road tax. Despite my non local status, I still seen alot of Malaysian queueing through JPJ counter because die die need the physical sticker.

It was so convenience back then when I visited any Pos Malaysia and pay extra RM2 just to get it done

GDL license do have English wording. if it mentioned you could handle vehicle up to 3500kg meaning you are capable to drive a car.

The card is still like the usual CDL card, just that you will get one extra cheap looking card like those 70s passport as international driving permit, and yes got English.

Then most countries don't know it's "not valid"...just get and pakai loh...

No idea on the physical card. Post office now didn't provide physical card anymore. So, in future I will go to jpj branch and see if I can get a physical card

Yesterday 20 June 2024 (Thursday), I phone called JPJ. They said if you want physical version, you can only get it at JPJ counter but you will get slip renew. The physical version (physical card with photo) is no more.

What a bummer! They shouldn't taken off the physical version (physical card with photo).

It is very important to have the options of physical version (physical card with photo) and digital version and then let us choose lah physical version (physical card with photo) or digital version. Should be like that and not taken off the physical version (physical card with photo).

When comes to physical version, who cares about the physical version (slip renew) and it's not useful for us all. All we want is the physical version (physical card with photo) because it's very useful and very important to us all.

But precedent (for me) is back in late 90s when we had same situation, my travel to UK, car rental agency accepted the expired
photo drivers license with renewal slip.

I was thinking go there update photo at the same time as my license renewal, but in the end if line up like donkey and still no physical card, like no point go there also.

That post doesn't say getting it for travel purposes. Many news articles mention you can get if you can prove you need it for driving overseas but so far haven't seen anybody who've done this and verify it can be done.

Basically articles describe:
Physical card for travel purpose = can if follow SOP
Physical card just because = no

Saw the latest photo uploaded to JPJ PJ on google map.
Went to JPJ Selangor (Padang Jawa, Shah Alam) around 9.30am today (30/7/24) and gotten my physical card license.
Told the officer that I am travelling soon and need to drive overseas + license expiring.
The officer will ask if you brought the printed copy of your flight details.
No questions asked after showing printed copy which they will keep for their record.
Renewed for 10 years at RM270 (RM30 discount), no extra charge for getting physical copy (as shown in image "versi lama/old version (license card)"
The wait was not long, only about 30 minutes, shown in 2nd image is the queue number and wait time.

I recently renewed my driving license on the MyJPJ app choosing the option NOT digital only. After payment, the app is updated with the new details, but there's no mention of the physical renewal?
Do they post to me, or I have to go to JPJ?
