I think that's because AEON apps blocks all access via VPN.

When you are roaming using certain SIM cards, for example Digi SIM card, overseas, the local networks automatically create a VPN connection to Digi network in KL.

The same happens in the UK.
If I use Celcom or Digi internet roaming, AEON apps refuse the connections.

If I connect using local UK SIM cards/WI-FI, it works.

Don't think AEON will ever release this block. It has been built into their safety policy

if anyone using custom dns or adblocker or similar, make sure to unblock/allow this in ur filters. Aeon app needed this to verify ur login. took me a few hours to identify this.
