QUOTE(virulence @ Sep 4 2024, 02:31 PM) US banks used to practice Fractional Reserve Banking. 10% of depositors funds are kept as Reserves while 90% of deposits goes to Treasury Bonds or Mortgage Back Securities. https://www.aeonbank.com.my/about-usDuring launch & promo rates of Aeon Bank, how many % are kept as reserves while most of it likely went to Aeon Credit for loans. Let's say they only park aside 10% of all deposit collected but when promo ended then say easily 30% of initial deposit funds are being withdraw out to other banks. They wouldn't have enough reserves or liquidity. Apparently our banks are supposed to have higher reserves but again no clue what is the actual %. Scroll to the bottom for the financial statements. QUOTE(virulence @ Sep 4 2024, 03:40 PM) 70% under cash and short term funds. Short term funds would most likely be US T Bills as they are the most liquid. So they would still need to liquidate them in order to have funds if people are doing mass withdrawals. lol cannot be US T-bills, they have to be MGS or GII. In the worst case, the shareholder can inject cash into the bank to "replenish" the losses. |

Although not many people will use it, AEON Bank's interests are credited as well by now. If you keep the minimum 20 MYR in the main account, you should get 0.01 MYR interest by now. nexona88 and sam93xxxxx liked this post

QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Oct 4 2024, 12:13 PM) hi all...i got a question...if i put money in now...and i withdraw..say on 25th of the month... since Aeon will only pay the interest one shot end of month...will i still get my interest between now until 25th? I haven't try this before so just asking first... or i need to maintain the money until end of month to earn all my daily interest? thank you! Yes, you may withdraw anytime. It's a floating deposit, not a fixed deposit. If you withdraw on 25th, you lose the interests from 25th till end of month, but the interests from 1st to 25th will be credited in the wee hours on the 1st of November. lolabunny123, Zaryl, and 1 other liked this post

I applied to close my AEON Bank account now that it has passed the 3-month limit where early account closure fee of RM 20 will be charged. Just chat with CS. They say they will unblock the RM 20 limit from November 15 to December 7 and after my 20 MYR withdrawal they will close the account. I check with CS what would happen if I wish to reopen with AEON Bank thereafter and they say there is no problem. CS looks good. Fast response, I am the first and only one in queue, instant service. ultimate93 and Optizorb liked this post

QUOTE(Medufsaid @ Oct 28 2024, 06:58 AM) Ah I see. But 2 things to note... 1. Card annual fee is RM 8 from 2nd year onwards 2. Minimum redemption is only allowed once you accumulated 200 AEON points Combining condition 1 & 2, and assuming you use AEON points' cash out to cover the RM 8 annual fee, you must spend at least 8/0.5% = 1600 MYR per year to break even... Thereafter, you must spend in blocks of RM 200 to cash out your cashbacks... You can tell they purposely gate the withdrawals to create more float for their business... I still like the fuss-free GX Bank 1% cashback... instantaneous |

QUOTE(Nicknamed666 @ Nov 12 2024, 04:55 PM) Thanks for the info. The thrifty Japanese probably won't dare to spend big like the GLC- and unicorn-backed digibanks. In the end we will have to check the T&C. What is true now may not be the case in the future. When they are desperate for your money they will bulge. AEON Bank will have maintenance from 12 am to 4 am tomorrow... probably allowing withdrawal from your account for those who applied for closing account earlier.
