You know when you apply the card, you can have a name different than your real name?

Do you follow your real name?

Do you put initial or fake or nickname? In this case, has there been any issue?

I'm using fake name so concerned if it's usable or not, or else better I change first..

A bit regret though. Should put my full name since every time I buy things online using CC I have to think the name I put on my CC.

Here we have IC to do verification but some country there is no such thing. If you are foreigner, then passport would be the ID. Anyway, no ID required. Your nickname is registered with card company along with real name. That is verification by card company.

I don't think there will be any problem because they just rely on the chip. If owner reported stolen card, then the ID in the chip will get banned and any cloned card cannot be used. The shop will just follow standard procedure by card company like hologram and some other basic stuff to verify that the card is genuine. The rest of the risk on card company. Otherwise what is the advantage on the shop side if they also get charge for certain percentage for ease of business.

Last ti,e even worse when whenever card is used, there was no chip. All merchants do just put on machine with carbon paper on it and glide a roller to imprint detail printed on card. That was it. Small shops with no online access were target. I believe the card company still pay the shop and absorb the loss.

I don't think they actually check name when buying online. I can use my name with bin, my name without bin, or just the front of my name without father's name. All three lepas.

never had a problem with singapore and thailand. japan never needed to go through customs for the VAT refund so i'm not sure what you are talking about

Must have at least surname or name on the display, forgot which bank thou.

Some card can. Next time state 'nakadashi' as card name, confirm get that.

You will face issues in places like Japan or Korea, as they will verify your CC to your ID for tax refund purposes.

But you can use the card without issue, just might not be able to get refunds.

You can put different name on your card

My highest purchase oversea is just flight ticket. Cc swipe, then put in pin, gaotim.

In some occasion last time, the transaction failed on me and i need to call bank to notify that its really me paying it. But nowadays as long below your limit and put in pin, all ok.
